I haven't seen Dawn in four days. I don't have her number and every time I go to her house, no one answers. I'm kind of worried about her. I haven't know her for even a full week and she's already made such an impression on me, and I actually miss her company a little bit. I hope she's okay and not, like, dead or anything. Maybe she got tired of me? Doesn't want to be my friend anymore? Usually that wouldn't bother me because the only person I really need is Jamie, but with Dawn, the thought bothers me. I just wish she'd talk to me.
"Yuppie! Did you hear a word I just said?" Jamie asks me, snapping me back into reality.
"What? No," I answer truthfully.
"I asked if you wanted to go swimming. We haven't gone swimming in like a month and we need some best friend time bonding time."
"I've literally been at your house, sleeping in your bed, eating your food, and watching your tv for two days. We're having best friend bonding time right now."
"Oh, come on, Yuppie. You don't want to do anything with me anymore. I thought for sure you'd say yes to swimming, you love swimming."
"You're right, I do," I say sadly. I haven't been able to enjoy half the things I like to do since... Jake. "I just haven't been feeling it lately. Can't we just stay here and watch scary movies and eat ice cream? That's perfect best friend bonding time."
"Fine. That's actually much better than being active." she smiles and jumps onto the bed, nearly making me fall off. "Netflix and chill, it is!"
She leaves the room for a brief moment and comes back with two separate boxes of ice cream. One for her, one for me. We get comfortable together in her bed and browse through Netflix for nearly twenty minutes, arguing over which is the best horror movie to put on. She fights for Insidious but I insist Sinister, it's such a good movie.
"Fine, fine! Stupid Sinister wins. Which isn't fair by the way, we already saw it in theaters with Jake." she groans as she clicks the movie. My stomach churns at the mention of my boyfriends name. "Speaking of Jake, have you talked to him lately?"
"I saw him four days ago. We've been texting since," I say, reminding myself to check my phone for any new messages.
"I remember when you use to see him every day. Now you barely talk to him or even about him," she says.
"Please, Jamie, don't start." I sigh, seeing that I have nine new messages from Jake the Loser Dog.
"I'm just saying, I feel like you're hiding something. It doesn't make sense how things between you two changed so suddenly. I want to know whats going on, that's all." she pleas with her big puppy dog eyes. Puppy... what Dawn calls me. I shake her from my mind and open up Jake's messages.
