You asshole,

"Is being blind folded actually necessary?" I groan as Dawn takes my glasses off my face and replaces it with a thick, black bandanna.

"Yes, it's completely necessary." she grunts as she ties it tight around my head and my vision goes dark.

"Ow," I shout at her.

"I didn't even do it hard," she says to me. There's a short moment of silence until she says, "Not yet, at least."

"Don't be disgusting," I scold her, trying to hold back my smile.

"It won't be disgusting when I have your legs wrapped around my-"

"Enough, enough!" I cut her off and she laughs, gives me a kiss, and finishes tying the stupid thing around my head. "I can't believe you pulled over at a gas station to put this thing on my face. We aren't even there yet, wherever there is."

"Exactly. What's the point of putting it on when we're already there?" she starts up the car again.

I sit and think about her statement, agreeing with it. I'll never let her know she's right, though. I'll never hear the end of it if I do.

"Also, when we get there, I'm gonna need to put ear muffs on you before we get out the car." she says as the car begins to move.

"What?" I shout towards her. "Ear muffs too?"

"Yes, ear muffs too." she mimics my voice. "The sound of the environment could give you some hints. I want you to go in totally uninformed,"

"This better be a damn good surprise," I smile.

"Trust me, babe. You'll love it."

My cheeks flush and my smile widens. Babe.  She called me babe. No Yustina, no Yuppie, no Pup, no Puppy. No nickname for a friend. Babe. A name to call a significant other. She's told me she's not down with commitment, but is it different for me? Babe.  I have been called babe before, but it has never sounded as sweet as it does coming from Dawn.

"Okay, I'm trusting you," I blush, "... babe."

I can't see her but I'd like to imagine she looked at me and smiled.

We're driving for a long time when the car stops and Dawn turns off the music. I was in the middle of belting Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas and my singing voice didn't sound as good as I thought when I could actually hear myself.

"You can sing too?" Dawn asks me sarcastically.

"Are we here?" I ask her, ignoring her sarcasm.

"Yeah, but blind fold test before we get out. How many fingers am I holding up?"

"Are you joking, Dawn? Do you know how thick this blind fold is? I can't see anything,"

"How many fingers?" she asks again.

I groan and roll my eyes, although she can't see them, and play along. "I don't know, four?"

She laughs a suspicious laugh and says, "No. Alright, time for ear muffs."

"No, no, no, no, hold up. Why the weird laugh, Soapy?"

"No reason, Puppy."

"How may fingers were up?"

"One," she laughs.

"You flicked me off, didn't you?"

Suddenly her lips are on mine as she kisses me passionately. Both her hands grasp my face and I kiss back just as passionately. It was unexpected, and perfect. Every kiss we share is perfect. A moment of bliss serenity is what I feel when I kiss Dawn. No one has ever made me feel that way.

She pulls her lips away and says sweetly, "Yes,"

"You asshole," I say, searching for her lips to kiss one more time.

She kisses me on my forehead and I give her the green light to put the ear muffs on me. All sound disappears and I just kinda sit there in silence and wait. I don't know exactly what I'm waiting for, but I wait. Soon I feel my car door open and Dawn's soft hands gently guide me out the vehicle. She holds both my arms and walks slowly and steadily with me. She treats me like a child learning how to walk as she leads me up a set of stairs. I rack my brain trying to figure out where we are but I really can't think of anything.

"You could be leading me to my death and I wouldn't even know," I say to her. I probably said that a little loud but whatever.

She leaves me for a bit but grabs my wrist before I panic. It seems as if shes reaching to hold me as I get gently pulled, and soon, my forehead collides with something I'm guessing is the door? Pain resonates my head and Dawn lifts one side of the ear muffs to apologize a thousand times. She leads me through the door and stops me. She takes the ear muffs completely off and I still hear little to no sound.

"Behold," Dawn says as she begins to untie the blind fold.

Tingles run through my fingers and my heart is beating too fast to keep track of. I'm actually really excited for this stupid surprise. And I know Dawn must be excited, too. She must have been planning this forever. She tells me shes not the romantic type.

"Surprise!" she shouts as she takes the blind fold off.

Everything is blurry and I don't know exactly where I am.

"Oh, wait, hold on," Dawn says from beside me as she fumbles to get my glasses out her pocket and put them on my face.

Once I have them on, everything is illuminated and clear and I immediately know where I am. The Art Museum I've been begging my parents to take me to. My heart drops and I feel like I'm going to cry. I jump onto Dawn and wrap my arms around her neck. She laughs and holds me by my waist.

"I knew you'd like it, babe,"
