CATS: KOZUME KENMA (CHILD!AU)

Remember that as a kid, Kenma had BLACK HAIR, okay? :)

"Kenma-kun!" I exclaimed as I hugged him from behind scaring him. I giggled then went up to him and smiled. "Kenma-kun, let's play!" I offered as I shook his hand. He sighed then looked away and mumbled quietly.

"But, playing is tiring," he told me. Kozume wasn't much of a talker since he preferred communicating through small notes or with technology, the two things that do not require much talking.

"But, Kenma-kun! You practice with Tetsu-nii everyday!" I complained as I held onto his shirt tightly in which he grumbled into. I pouted and shook him more to make him say yes.

"Come on, Kenma-kun! Please? Pretty please? With a new game console on top?" I pleaded making him sigh in return. "If I say yes, will you stop shaking me?" he asked me with a straight face as I grinned triumphantly.

"Yay! Thank you, Kenma-kun! Let's play hide-and-seek!" I told him and poked my index finger on his arm. "You're it!" I told him then ran off to my hiding spot while giggling.

This is gonna be fun!

"Kenma-kuuun! Where are youuuu?" I called out as I roamed around the park looking for him. I've searched for every place in the park and still haven't found him. If I don't find him before the sun sets, I'd be losing for the fifth time already!

Who knew Kozume was so good even with outdoor games.

"Kenmaaaa!" I called out once more and sighed. I heard a bush rustle beside me making me look at it suspiciously and grin.

I finally got you, you sneaky cat.

I creeped towards the bush then parted it quickly only to find a small squirrel behind it. I sighed and looked behind to see him on top of the tree playing on his PSP.

"K-Kenma-kun! How'd you g-get there so quickly?" I screamed while pointing at him accusingly. I looked at me with bored eyes before turning to his games while speaking monotonously.

"I was here the whole time, (F/N). Didn't you notice?" he told me making me fluster in embarrassment. I can't believe I missed him! And to think he was on that tree the whole time?

I pouted then stuck my tongue at him. "Bleh! Kenma-kun, you cheated!" I accused making him pause his game then look at me. "Why, (F/N)? You didn't even catch me so how was that considered cheating?" he asked me.

I pouted more then walked away from him only to find a kitten stuck on a tree. The kitten was mewling like wild as if scared to go down. Being the brave girl I was, I took the chance to climb up the tree and get the kitten.

"Here, kitty. Come here, (F/N)-chan won't hurt you. I'm good." I held out my hand for the kitten to lick and smell as I tried to get it. The kitten finally got my scent and went over me, its fur nuzzling on my hand lightly as I did so making me smile in delight.

Crack!

I heard it behind me and everything happened in a blur. I held onto the kitten tightly as I fell down from the high tree, me screaming 'Mommy!' as I fell down and down to my doom.

Only to be saved by a pair of arms.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was already in Kozume's arms. I pursed my lips then hugged him tightly while crying.

"K-Kenmaaaa! It was so scary!" I screamed onto his shirt as he patted my head lightly. He sighed then held me closer to him as I cried more.

"It's okay now, (F/N). Don't worry, okay?"

"Kenma-kun!" I greeted as I entered his hospital room. Turns out, his left arm broke due to the fall and so here he is inside the hospital, his arm casted as he rested.

"Oh, (F/N), good morning," he greeted as he lifted his face from his book. I smiled and placed the basket of fruits my mother prepared for him on the table then sat on the bed.

"How's your arm, Kenma-kun?" I told him as I placed more of our schoolwork on his bed making him groan. He looked at me with bored eyes before answering my question.

"Well, I've been doing swell but my arm isn't." I smiled apologetically then unzipped my jacket and brought out the kitten from underneath.

"(F/N), you do know that's not good, right?" he asked me making me nod. "Yeah! But he wanted to apologize too!" I exclaimed and held the feline in front of him as it mewled at the sight of him. Kozume's face lightened up then gave the cat a pat on the head.

"It's okay, little guy. I forgive you, he said as I placed the cat on his lap as he began petting it more. I giggled at his cuteness then grabbed the wooden chair from his bedside, stacked books in it before finally positioning my camera in front of it.

Kozume noticed my action then tilted his head as I positioned the camera properly. "What are you doing, (F/N)?" he asked me.

"I'm setting up the camera, duh!" I told him in an obvious tone. I smiled as I got the perfect angle then proceeded to place the ten-second timer on it. I pressed the button and rushed to his side and sat beside him before forming a peace sign.

"Cheese, Kenma-kun!" I exclaimed making him sigh and form a peace sign in return.

Snap!

EXTENDED ENDING:

"(F/N), come on, we'll be late for school," Kozume scolded as I stared at the framed picture of us when we were kids. He got impatient then walked over to me and peered over my shoulder.

"I still have my copy, Kenma," I told him and kissed his cheek. "Do you have yours?" I asked him sweetly making him blush as he fumbled for his wallet.

And sure enough, the picture was there.

And along with a few pictures of the kitten I saved-who is now named Kozume Jr. by me.

"Aw, Kenma! I never thought you'd be into cats after that!" I exclaimed making him blush.

"N-Not really, (F/N)," he told me then ruffled my hair. "Let's just go," he told me as I placed down the framed picture on my nightstand.

"Sure thing, Kenma!"
