Chapter 1: The start

Maine's POV

I'm not really a morning person but I have to get up. NOW.

"Maine! Where's my headset?" my brother Nico asked.

"I think, it's inside your cabinet. You're too forgetful brother!"

We're always like this. I keep on reminding him things since he has a short term memory loss. He started to be like when he was 17 years old and we don't have any idea what happened.

My Mom owns a little flower shop downtown. My Dad's a car salesman. My brother and I are still at school but he's gonna be graduating next year.

I went downstairs to have breakfast with them, only to find out Mom and Dad left already for work.

"I prepared your breakfast over there my dear little sister." Nico said.

"Thank you my really old brother. Haha!" I teased him. We both laughed.

After a minute or two..

"I have to go first, I need to fix some of my requirements for the upcoming graduation next year. You take care, okay?" Before leaving, he kissed me on the forehead then left.

This is our daily routine actually. I'm quite used to this setting.

So I finished my breakfast and prepared my things. I usually walk from home to school since it's really near from our place. It's like a 30 minute walk and it's fine with me.

Anyway, I'm Maine Mendoza 17 years old and will start my 2nd Semester at Archers University with the course, Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication.

First day feels.. I'm really nervous.

Alden's POV

Already on my way to school with my Dad. I feel like a baby, but he promised me that if our basketball team will be the champion, he'll buy me my own car. So I have to do better than the usual.

"Ready for your first day?" Dad asked.

"Of course I am!" I answered and winked at him.

My Dad owns the school and my Mom is a coffee shop owner downtown. Me? I'm their only son, Alden Richards, 18 years old and I must say, I can pretty much get all the things I want. A brat. I know.

My phone rang

"Mom?"

"Are you with your Dad right now?"

"Yes."

"Tell him to pick up his phone. I've been trying to call him. Thanks, son! You take care and be good at school!"

"Love you Mom!"

"I love you too."

Then my Dad asked,

"Why did your Mom call?"

"She's been trying to call you. Dont put it on silent mode Dad!"

My Dad laughed. He always forgets. While we're on our way, a girl caught my attention. He looks very familiar but I just don't know where did I see her before. Looks like we'll be seeing each other at school.

We arrived after a 30 min. drive.

My team mates are already waiting for me.

I got off the car and waved goodbye to Dad.

Sam approached me,

"What took you so long? The class is about to start. C'mon!"

"I'm with my Dad."

"Such a baby!" Sam said.

Well, he always teases me. Sam's been my best friend since kindergarten. He's basically my brother from a different mother.

We're on our way to the classroom..

Sam said..

"New classroom, new semester. NEW CLASSMATES."

"I know. This is going to be exciting." I added.

When we finally reached the room, we took the back seat of course. I dont want to be in front of the class. This is just one of the perks I have since I am the son of the owner. We're just in time for the class.

The professor entered the room..

"Hi everyone! My name is.." someone interrupted the professor. Nice. First day, first late. Good impression.

A girl entered the room looking really tired. And..

"Hi sir! I'm sorry I'm late. I got lost."

I was looking at her. She's really familiar.

"It's okay. We're just about to start. Please take your seat."

"Thank you sir."

She's getting nearer and nearer only to find out, she's going to be sitting in front of me and guess what, it's her. The girl with the glasses.
