Chapter 9: Cousins

Maine's POV

We went back inside to get along with his family and relatives. I scolded Sam for what he's done and said sorry about it too.

I saw a familiar girl standing at the counter.

I'm thinking, "who is she? She really looks familiar.."

Alden asked, "You okay?"

"Yes I am. Uhhhmmmm, do you happen to know her?" I pointed at the counter.

"Jane? She's my cousin. D'you know her? She used to live here."

Jane. She was my classmate in elementary together with her twin brother, Jake.

"Yeah. She's my elementary classmate."

Alden called Jane.

Jane immediately looked on our way. She smiled and walked towards us.

"Long time no see!" she hugged and greeted Alden.

"Yeah! It's been 6 years I guess. How's Paris?" Alden asked.

"It's fine. Always busy. The restaurant's doing great even my studies."

"And Jake?" Alden added.

"Uhhhmmm.. He already graduated and he's now handling the restaurant. He's here too."

"I didn't see him yet. Oh! By the way, meet my girlfriend."

She looked at me like she remembers me.

"Do I know you? Have we met?" Jane asked.

"Uhhhhh. I was one of your classmates in elementary." I answered.

"Oh. Wait! Chubby baby? Maine? Right?"

Here it goes..

"Yes. It's me."

"Oh gosh! You've changed! You look so different. How are you?"

She was really shocked to see me this way.

"I'm okay. A bit busy with school and all."

"Good to hear! Wait, how did you two meet? Did he use some love potion on you? Haha!"

She's still the bubbly Jane I met few years ago.

"I didn't!" Alden uttered.

"Really? You bum!" Jane laughed.

"Whatever, I'll leave you two alone first, okay? I'll be back later. I just need to check if we still have enough food for everyone."

Jane and I nodded.

When Alden left, Jane didn't stop asking me questions, asked about how Alden and I met.

"He's changed. I guess." Jane said.

"Yes he is."

"Oh wait. Stay here. I'll be back. I just need to look for Jake."

"Alright."

She left.

I am pretty nervous. I haven't seen Jake after they left for Paris. Jake's my crush when I was still a kid. And he knows that when he caught me talking to Coleen inside our room.

Then someone approached me from the back.

"Hey!"

It was Kenneth.

"Oh hi!"

"Are you okay?"

"Yep. I'm just waiting for Jane."
