RECAP:
"Wait!"
The King turned towards me with an eyebrow raised at my abrupt shout. "What is it Cherie? I must not dally, I have things to do"
"Whom am I to be wed to, your Majesty?"
"Why to King Raymond himself my dear," he drawled turning around and reached for the latch on the door.
This mornings conversations ran threw my head in a flurry of mumbles. "But that would mean-"
"Yes it would. I shall see you later this evening, Cherie," with one last conniving smile, he was gone.
Horror and realization flooded me with the click of the lock.
I was the daughter of Lord Benoit Watkins.

CHAPTER 5:
My actions were stiff as I followed the Kings orders. How could I be the daughter of someone so horrid. Slowly anger started filtering in making my movements harsh and abrupt. Lord Benoit actually allowed the King to do this to his own flesh and blood. Not only did he allow for it happen he kept repeating the same mistake that landed me here in the first place. Perhaps it was a good thing for me to have been raised in the palace instead of the Watkins residence. Even though if I had been raised there I would have been at least able to speak like a normal child and not wallow in silence.
A flash of pain brought me out of my thoughts to realize I had scrub part of my skin raw. Wincing slightly I finished bathing knowing I must not dawdle because knowing the King he shall arrive back sooner than expected.
Half way through dressing in a simple brocade gown I froze. I should not be solely directing my anger upon Lord Benoit Watkins. None of this would have happened if the King had not ordered it to be so. The King's favorite punishments to bestow upon the people whom have- in his eyes- wronged him are banishment from the court or death. Why was Watkins' punishment so completely different from everyone else? Nothing seemed to be making sense anymore.
Twisting my hair into a simple bun I tried to look at what was going on around me from an outsiders' perspective. Maybe if I did not allow the hurt and confusion to cloud my mind I would be able to think more clearly. I was Lord Watkins' 'lost' daughter. Hidden away as a child; forced into becoming a servant. How the need for my silence was instigated I had no clue. At least now I know the reasoning behind my schooling and all the etiquette lessons. Now on the morrow I am to be wed to King Raymond; whom was the sworn enemy of Lord Watkins.
Sighing I sat down at the side table that held my meal. It was a simple meal of soup and bread but it was better than the left overs the other servants usually save me. My lips curled into a smirk thinking of their faces when they learn how cruel they have been towards a noble. A noble who was about to become a Queen at that. The image that I created helped dissipate some of my worry and questions allowing me to eat in a relative peace.
Of coursed that was ruined when the King strode in followed by the terrible twins, Travis and Trevor. I stood silently watching as they placed two matching trunks side by side against the giant canopy bed.
"Leave us," the King ordered. I watched as the twins sneered at me behind his back before leaving and shutting the door behind them. The King stared at me for a moment before going towards one of the trunks. "These are my wedding gifts to you Cherie, I hope you enjoy them for they were expensive," he murmured.
I gritted my teeth, he was buying me off- as if I was a kept woman! "Thank your Majesty for your generosity, I am sure I shall love whatever is within the trunks," I said as pleasantly as I could.
"Tomorrow you shall be wed to King Raymond and I want no problems from you do you understand? This marriage will go as planned. You shall be the one that keep us from waging a war. My dear Cherie, you are the one that will convince him to side with us at all times," the King said gazing absent mindedly around the room.
"I am a woman, your Majesty. No man would ever listen to me," I pointed out.
"I listen to you, no?"
"You humor me. What you decide to do has always been what you wanted never what I have suggested," I bit my lip, praying I had not been too outspoken.
"If that is what you think, then very well. I shall leave you to your thoughts. Your wedding gown is hanging in the wardrobe if you would like to admire it," with a bored glance towards me the King stalked towards the door in apparent anger.
"Why?"
"Why would you admire your wedding gown Cherie? Is that not what most young ladies do?"
"No, not that, your majesty. Why did you forbid me from speaking? What was the point?"
"I forbid you from speaking because it was the wagging tongues of others that caused you to be brought to me in the first place. One day I shall tell you everything you desire to know, but not today Cherie," without waiting for me to respond he slipped through the door.
Clenching my fists to save myself any trouble from going and running after the King to demand answers, I forced myself to walk towards the wardrobe that held my wedding gown. Despite my attempt at control my hands shook as I reached for the handles. With a short breath I threw the doors open. For a moment I stood and silently admired the gown.
It was simple as far as most wedding gowns for higher up nobles go, for that I was glad. Golden in color with a muted pattern adorning it covered a cream silk underskirt. Pearls and rubies were sewn into the top of the bodice, as well as the headpiece. A string of pearls wrapped around the waist in a makeshift belt. Reaching forward I pulled the flowing sleeve apart to reveal a ruffled under sleeve which created the look of fullness the sleeves had.
A bright red box caught my attention causing me to reach forward to grab it from the top shelf. Smoothing my hand over the top of the case, enjoying the feel of real velvet I undid the little latch on the box. Lifting the lid the first thing I saw was an envelope a royal seal holding it closed. Walking back to the little side table I set the box down and lifted the envelope up, for a moment I allowed myself to admire the beautiful rope necklace made of rubies and pearls with a large ruby drop at the end of it before turning my attention to the letter. The seal was not of this kingdom, so it was not the King whom gifted it to me. With a sigh I broke the seal. It was short, but it caused me to gasp for breath as reality really broke through my thoughts.
'To my bride to be, a simple gift of the riches to come. ~ Your husband to be Raymond'
