-sydney's pov-

what do i want for dinner? pizza? burger? pasta? rice? chicken? steak? seafood?

"i guess i'll go for orange chicken, veggie stir fry and some white rice."
i thought to myself and went to the different aisles.

my last ingredient, rice. i went to the aisle that had rice and saw the my favorite brand was at the very top shelf. i shook the dust of my jacket and prepared to grab it.

"almost there...." i whispered my eyes, biting my lips, closing my eyes.

my fingertips were so close to touching the bag of rice, if only i wasn't wearing this pair of sandals.

i heard some moving sounds, uncooked rice clicking to each other, when i opened my eyes and stood back properly, i saw ashton smiling at me with the bag of rice i was reaching for.

"here you go."
"thanks ash." i smiled at him.
"you making dinner tonight?" he asked.
"yeah, im going for chinese food. do you perhaps want to join me?" i asked and gave him a thumbs up.
"i would love to, hold on though, i gotta put back this frozen pizza." he laughed and scurried off.

after checking out the groceries, ash decided to help me carry them. such a gentleman.

"do you need help preparing the dishes?" he asked, placing the groceries down the counter.

"nah it's alright ash! i want you to tell me how my cooking tastes like. so in the mean time, make yourself comfortable in my apartment." i told him, tying my hair up into a bun and he gave a thumbs up.

"finally." i smiled to myself, pouring out the orange chicken from the pan to the ceramic platter.

"ash dinner is ready! go to the dining table first." i called out.

as i finished placing all the dishes onto the table, ash wasn't there yet. i turned around to see him fast asleep on the couch, the show Vampire Diaries was still on.

i chuckled to myself, at his adorbe sight and turned off the television. i was about to wake him up, but his featured made me stare at him for a good five minutes.

his soft brown curly hair was so fluffy and had a lot of volume, a couple of strands had fallen right infront of his eyes. his tired eyelids closing, his light pink lips, how soft and... kissable.

i lightly tapped him on the shoulder.
"ash? ashton, wake up, dinner is ready."

he squinted his eyes and starting moving his body.
"syd?" he whispered. oh my, that sexy husky voice.
"yeah it's me syd, ash its dinner time." i smiled softly at him.
"oh sorry, let's go."

"so ash, how's the food?" i asked excitedly, watching him take the first bite.

"wow syd it's great! it really amazes me how you can cook so many different cuisines." he complimented.

"alright syd, thank you so much for dinner. im going to head back to my apartment now." we were now done with dinner, warping into the night.

"sure, thanks for telling me im a great cook i guess." i said and we both laughed.

he walked to the opened door and turned back to me.
we both felt awkward. how were we going to say goodbye? were we just going to say bye? were we going to hug? Shake hands? kiss?

all of the different options were confusing me when suddenly ashton held out both of his arms awkwardly.

so i went for it and hugged him. we stayed like that for a good five seconds. his strong, toned biceps wrapped around me as i went deep into his chest, he smelled... nice.

"bye ash, thanks for coming. oh your chest is really comfy again." i chuckled, he blushed and closed the door.

my heart was pounding. i didn't know what it felt. i just knew that whenever ash was around, i was happy and i felt safe? was it a best friend relationship? or was i actually having a crush? i knew for sure that i enjoyed his presence. and with that, i went to bed with a crazy heartbeat.
