Darkness is all i can see. Or is it you? You can never tell in dreams. The air, of some sorts, is filled with music. I recognise it entirely. It's the opening piece in Swan Lake.
I do love ballet and i want to do it later in life. My peaceful care-free state has been abruptly stopped by a crash of noise. It sounded like music box breaking it's notes and screaming at the pain.
Then as the music caught up and smoothed out to a relaxing flourish, making me feel safe again. A spotlight slowly blossoms and shines upon a stage. Or whatever.
Someone standing under the bright light pointing to the sky. Oh. It's me. I'm pulling my arm down gently. Surprisingly i'm dancing beautifully around the stage to the music. Yes i remember. This is the prologue when Rothbart casts his spell. Strange choreography though it's more like the Bolshoi's.
Now i realise that i am going to be attacked by Rothbart at any minute. I twist and turn fluently and like liquid to my music. Where am I? Where is this place? How long will I be here? As i sit down and look around me I can sense the presence of the shifty character.
I hear the footsteps but why am I not ascending? The shadow of Rothbart closes in on my spotlight rudely obstructing my view.
I finally get up sensing the enemy. Turning on pivot like a merry-go-round as I search for him. Why can't I find him? He's not there? Surely not. Twisting this way and that feeling the space around me. My arms raise above me and flap inexplicably.
I break free momentarily only to find Rothbart behind me. He spins to reveal his face to me in the light.
Liam?
I run for dear life only to be stopped by. Rothbart? Pulled away in haste and thrown about agressively. My limbs crack and my muscles pulled. Liam why are you hurting me? Don't hurt me please? Spun around and thrown around, I whimper and cry for Liam. I wish to be free. He tosses me down to catch me and spin me back up.
Turning me around like a ballroom dance, I am thrown out into the light. I am changed. His hand hath touched my nimble soul and changed me forever.
I wander away for I do not belong in my old world. For hopeless longing I shall leave for good measure; Rothbart changes me and I leave. Or was it Liam? I just don't know.
I see our childhood. We live together, fight together and help together. The quavering moans of our dying mothers is the starting gun for my icy tears that race down my spine. Our cries can make harp strings snap into a thousand pieces.
Liam cared to much for me. His sense of power and prosperity was projected unto me to consol my broken heart. Trying to propell me through this world was his penchant; that was enough proof to show how much he cared. Due to my motherless years as a child I never felt the warm embrace of a mother. Liam was my mother. His much stronger heart fed me and cared. Oh how it cared. Why do you care?
I see us together happy. But his face turns cold for he does not belong in my world any more. At the end of the schooling days he decides to turn away and take the cold shoulder off the kitchen hook. Am I not a welcome visitor in your home anymore Liam? Liam please. I wished for him to stay. Walking away, suitcase in hand shattered my heart.
My heart screamed for longing, for my mother to come back to me. My hearts screams amplify my sorrow and fly through my voice to call Liam back. The cascading fluid became my persona that day.
Tears. That was my trait. For the unforgiving act, not of abuse but of abandonment. Don't leave me a second time.
His turn was what my heart needs. The tears stop. As his embrace dries them. My anguish sustains his hunger for care. My persona therefore recycled and begun. Liam hast returned to me. And he shall never leave me. Just like he said.
The darkness returns like ink in water. Enveloping my mind to leave me at peace from my horrific past. Never leave me again Liam.
