Ben didn't sleep that night. He just sat on the front steps and waited for the sun. I didn't sleep either. Instead I went through old photo albums of Ben and I. I tried to find comfort in it, but I found there was nothing to find comfort in. Ben wouldn't look at me, I still hadn't told him I knew she was still alive.

He'd find out at the hospital, if he even came with me.

Eventually, I heard him trudge up the stairs. Without lifting his head, he muttered, "We should get ready to go."

On the way to the hospital, Ben didn't take his eyes off of the road. He didn't hold my hand as we went into the office, and he still didn't look at me.

After the test, the doctor walked into the room. "Mr. and Mr. Bruce," He said, looking down. Then he looked up at us with a smile, "I didn't believe in miracles until today."

Ben snapped his head up with wide eyes and a dropped jaw. "What? She still there? Adelaide is still.. holy shit!" A smile spread across his whole face and he hugged me tight. "I'm so sorry for how I acted."

"It's okay," I cried happily, hugging him back.

"After the ride home, you're never getting in a car again," Ben laughed through happy tears.

On the way home, I called Sam. He answered with, "Alex, is she.. gone?"

"No, she's not. You're still gonna be an uncle."

When we got home, we both went straight to Adelaide's room and started cleaning up. Then we got dressed, went out to lunch, and went shopping again. We got cuter and more fluffy wolves, a better crib, a better stroller. Ben grinned, "Only the best, she's a miracle, remember?"
