After Ben's witty comment that sends some chuckles throughout the small crowd of people in front of us, the four of us arrivals look up and stand before the Auradorians- or whatever they're called.
Next to Ben are more familiar faces: Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay; all former occupants of the Isle of the Lost- just like I now am.
"Welcome to Auradon! I'm King Ben, and thank you all for agreeing on coming to our wonderful kingdom!" he steps forward, his huge crown glistening in the sunlight and reflecting its presence of power and glory straight into my eyes and blinding me. "Today is once again another momentous occasion!" Ben shakes Charles' and Niamh's hands politely. Both of the newcomers look no where near as intimidating as most people would think us villains look. But once Ben arrived to Zeke and I, you could sense his uncomfort, even as he continued his boring speech about this "momentous occasion" and blah blah blah.
I wouldn't blame him, though. Zeke gave Ben a menacing stare while they shook hands, almost as if he was about to take his soul in an instant. And me? Well, I wasn't doing anything too intimidating, but I guess having the title of being Hades' daughter is enough to make a man weary of my presence.
"Now, I know you all see a couple familiar faces here," starts Ben. "Mal, guys," Ben extends his hands out and takes a step back to allow the four to line up in front of us, smiles plastered across their faces like that of everyone else in this cheesy, stereotypical kingdom.
Fairy Godmother really must've bippity-boppitied- booed the evil out of them, eh?
"Welcome, Zeke, Thana, Charles, and..."
"Niamh, but you can just call me Nia," states the shy girl to an enthusiastic Mal, who's excitement is almost cringeworthy.
"Okay! Nia it is!" Mal claps her hands together as Ben wraps his arm around her waist. I roll my eyes as Mal continues babbling. "We all think you guys are really gonna enjoy it here, just like we all do!" Everyone--and I do mean everyone (excluding Zeke, Charles, Nia, and I)- exclaims a huge yell of pride as Ben and the four traitors, as my dad likes to refer to them as, grab us and start rushing us through the huge crowd of people on either side of me.
"Wow, I love this look! Who did your hair?" asks Evie as she messes around with my brown hair and all-black outfit, which, I can agree, is really cute. Being sorta interested in how I look and what I wear, it's surprising how I pulled off a type of outfit that shouldn't be pulled off this nicely.
As Evie keeps talking about my outfit and all that, Jay keeps Zeke busy. Both boys discuss sports and how Zeke has never heard of some game the school plays. Mal tries to get Nia out of her comfort zone, and Carlos is already comfortable with Charles, both petting some dog Carlos has in his arms.
The huge doors to the entrance of the school open and reveal some everyday students walking across the halls and up the stairs with backpacks, books, and a fit of laughter to share with their friends.
It's painful how much happiness is surrounding me at this moment.
"Doug!" Evie exclaims as she runs up to one of the trumpet guys and gives him a huge hug and kiss on the cheek. His face is covered in blush as he fixes his glasses and tries to contain his cool. "Guys, this is Doug. He's a person you can go to if you have any questions or issues with class schedules or dorms."
"Yep, that's me! I'm Dopey's son. As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and..." His voice trails as he tries to remember the seventh dwarf.
"Sneezy," Carlos pats Doug's shoulder after finishing the list of the seven dwarfs. I suddenly catch Carlos' eyes. He looks at me for a few seconds before I lift an eyebrow to make him look away in an embarrassed hurry.
That was weird.
