CHAPTER 9// Back?

Adne

He was gone. The man I loved, was gone. I don't even really understand what happened a week ago. He got mad, and then he just left. I wasn't under control of my words. I just let my mouth take control instead of my brain.

I sat on my bed. I was trying to think of something other than... him.

I decided I was hungry. I walked downstairs. I saw Ren cooking something in the kitchen. "What are you cooking?" I asked him. When Ren turned around he gave me a sympathetic look. This was the first time since Cole left me, I had been out of my room. He walked over to me and pulled me into a warm hug.

I felt tears welling up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I wasn't one to cry. I always forced my tears to stay in my body.

Although this time, it seemed different. It seemed like I had to cry, like I wanted to.

I let some tears fall. Ren leaned back from the hug and looked at me.

"Oh, Adne. He really meant a lot to you didn't he? I mean, your crying over him!" He said. I nodded and let a few more tears fall. I can't believe that I was really crying. I never, ever cried. I didn't even cry when I was young. But now, here I am, crying over a boy.

I stepped away from Ren and wiped my nose on my sleeve. "Are you still hungry?" Ren asked, gesturing to the pie he must have baked. I smiled and nodded my head.

*

Me and Ren sat on the couch in the living room. We were laughing, and talking about the most random things. It was nice to do things with Ren. It was just like the old times, when I wasn't who I am now. Believe it or not, I used to wear bright pink frilly dresses, and I was always nice to everybody. That is definitely not who I am now.

I looked over at Ren. "Thank you. You know, for trying to make me feel better. Oh and the pie is really good." I said pointing my fork at the pie. Ren simply nodded his head and smiled.

I finished my pie, than set the plate on the coffee table. Ren finished his to, than did the same. "You know, I actually kinda liked Cole. He seemed like the kind of guy you deserved, and he deserved you to. I wish he hadn't broken our promise."

"What?" I asked, confused at what Ren said. "What promise?"

"Oh, the day he came over here for the first time, we talked, and he told me he liked you, than he was walking up to your room, and I asked him to promise me something. He said anything. So I told him to promise me. No matter what. To protect you." Ren made him promise that? That dickhead. "But he broke the promise." Ren finished.

I looked up at him and shot him and I'm-gonna-kill-you look. I shot up from the couch and walked over to the front door. I opened it, but was stopped by Ren's voice.

"Where are you going?"

"Out." I said, than left.

I walked down the road. Heck, I walked down every road, I just needed to get away from Ren. I wanted to be in my own world, where it's just me and happiness. But since happiness doesn't exist, that would be impossible.

I was walking downtown when I heard something faint, and in the distance. I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, receiving plenty of, 'Moves', 'What the hell"s' and 'Holy's'. I turned around, and sure enough, there it was.

The wolfman.

Benjamin

I was up in my room. I was trying to figure out who this wolfman was, or what his plan was. I was no Ren, I wasn't the smartest kid in the world. But I think I come pretty close with this kind of stuff.

I paced in my room, working out things that could give me some clues. I thought about when it attacked us that one time at the park. Adne was alone for a little bit. I had gone to get us some smoothies, and Cole had gone to the washroom. How did the wolfman know that Adne was alone?

He must have been around. Maybe he was around the park in human form, but when he saw Adne alone, he took it as his chance to attack her.

Holy crap! I thought. His plan is to pretty much stalk her at all times, and when she's alone, than he attacks.

As soon as I found this out, I ran downstairs as fast as I could. I found Ren in the kitchen washing the dishes. I ran up behind him and tapped his shoulder. He turned around and looked at me.

"Yes?" He asked.

"I know what his plan is."

"Who's plan?" He asked.

"The wolfman's plan."

"Well what is it?"

"It's to wait till she's alone, then he'll attack her." I said. Ren had a scared look on his face.

"What? What is it?" I asked, worried.

"She's alone right now." He said, while walking over to the door and grabbing his jacket. He turned around and said, "Well, are you coming?" I nodded my head quickly, than walked over to the door.

Adne

I looked at him with startled eyes. He was on a roof. The wolfman let out a loud growl. He jumped down from the roof. He ran over to me on all fours. When he got to me he grabbed me by the neck. Holy crap was he strong!

I tried to get loose, but it didn't work. The wolfman lifted me into the air. "You little twat. Your to much work for me. You were a snob from the moment I saw you. And now, I wont have to deal with you anymore, because I am gonna make sure that I kill you today. Right here, right now. Slowly, and painfully." And then, after he said that, he threw me. Far. I hit a building hard. The wall was made out of stone, which didn't help.

I tried to get up, but didn't have to. I was lifted up off my feet by a hand.  A big fury hand. Maybe more like a paw.

He held me in the air, by my neck, my feet weren't touching the ground. I was struggling to get out of his grip. I was choking. I couldn't breathe. "Was that painful?" He asked me. Before I could think about what I was saying, I nodded my head. "Good, than this should finish you off. " I looked him in the eye, than watched as he lifted up his paw. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact. But it didn't come to my face, it came to my butt, and it wasn't from a claw, it was from me falling out of the wolfman's grasp.

I opened my eyes to see someone attacking the wolfman. Someone had just saved me. I looked more closely, but I couldn't see who it was.

They threw a few punches at the wolfman. The wolfman yelped with every punch. When the wolfman got the chance, he got up and ran. Not even bothering to look back. The person who saved me, stood up straight, and turned around.

And it was no other than...

Cole Dyer.
