CHAPTER 6// Cole Dyer

Adne

My alarm went off in the morning. I got up and pressed snooze. I grabbed and outfit then walked to the bathroom. I took a shower, then got dressed. I had black skinny jeans, a red tank-top, and a black leather jacket. My style is always the same, pretty much the same outfit everyday.

I decided I was gonna put on some makeup. I put on the normal eyeliner, mascara, and black eyeshadow.

I walked downstairs and looked at the clock. 8:40am. I was gonna be late. School starts at 8:50 and it's at least a 20 minute walk. I was just gonna have to use my speed. I grabbed my bag and walked out.

When I got out there was a car parked on the side of the road. I recognised the car. It was Liam's. Great now I can't use my speed. The hell was he doing here anyways?

Ignoring the car, I started walking down the road. The car honked at me. I stopped and turned around, looking at the car. Liam rolled down the window and called out, "Hey! You want a ride?" I shook my head, then kept walking. I heard him step out of his car, close his door, than run over to me. He clicked the lock button on his car keys, than started walking beside me.

"Than I'm walking with you." He said. I sent him an evil glare. "You know were gonna be late right? It's a 20 minute walk, and we have," I stopped and checked my watch. "about 7 minutes." He nodded. "Yeah, it doesn't really matter to me anymore. I feel like, like I don't want to be the old Liam anymore. The Liam that always had to be the good boy, the honor student." I nodded. "Okay."

Our walk was silent for a while. We were about, a street from the school, when Liam brought up the topic I officially hated the most. "I'm sorry for last night. I don't know what I was thinking."

I rolled my eyes and look at the ground as I walked. "Please don't ignore me." He said. He was right, I was ignoring him. He sighed and walked in front of me. "Adne, please. Don't ignore me. I did mean what I said last night. I do want you, but if you don't want me, I'll wait. I will wait for you to want me as much as I want you." I sighed at what he said.

I wiggled my way around him.

When I got to school, everybody was looking at me. I don't like it when people do that. They stare at me.

I looked at my outfit to make sure nothing was on me, or that my outfit wasn't dirty. It wasn't. Then I realised that it's because Liam is so close to me.

I gave everybody around me and evil glare. Then I turned around to face Liam. I pushed him away from me and said, "Do you have to stand so close?" He stumbled a bit, but then stood up straight. "Sorry." He murmured. I started walking to my locker. When I got there I put in my combination, than opened it.

I stood there thinking about what my first class was. I couldn't remember so I pulled out my schedule. Science. Ugh, not again. Why does life have to hate me. I started pulling out my books when I felt breathing on my neck.

I turned around and sure enough, there was Liam Collins, standing really, really close to me. I don't like it when people are close.

"What?" I asked. He gave me a confused look. "What?" "Oh god. Honor student. Yeah, sure. I meant, what do you want. I don't like people being so close, so can you like, back up or something?" I said.

Liam smiled at me, than took a step closer, if that was possible. "Why do you keep doing that?" I yelled. People were now staring at us. They were all whispering. Although I could hear it all, I just chose to ignore them.

"Keep doing what?" Liam asked. "Smiling! I hate it when people smile!" I yelled at him.

"Why do you hate it when people smile?"

"Because it shows a sign of happiness. And nobody is actually happy." I said

"Well I'm happy. Right now."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I'm so close to you." He smirked.

"Yeah, right. Ummm, didn't I tell you to move?"

"Yeah, but I'm not gonna listen." He grinned at me. He started leaning in. I tried to squirm away, but he had trapped me against my locker.

"Bad move." Someone said behind Liam, just as our lips brushed each other's. I couldn't see who it was because Liam was in the way.

Liam turned around and moved a little bit away from me. I peeked around Liam to see who it was.

I didn't recognize the boy. He had brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing black baggy jeans that hung nicely around his waist, and a grey long sleeved shirt that he had rolled up to his elbows. He was a handsome man. Why was he helping me?

"What are you gonna do about it?" Liam asked.

"I would show you, but I'm not one for violence."

"Well I am. And looking at you, I know I can take you." Liam said pointing to the boy.

"You've done a real good job pissing me off. Don't touch her." The boy said.

"Why do you care?" Liam asked.

"Because I wanna protect her."

"And why do you want to do that?"

"I don't want harm to come her way. Especially from a dick such as yourself." The boy shot back. This guy was my kind of guy. He was saying the same things I would have said.

Liam was steaming. He walked over to the boy and tried to punch him, but the boy dodged it. He straightened back up and said. "I told you, I'm not one for violence." And with that he gave me one last look, then walked out of my sight.

I didn't even get to thank him. He was gone. I didn't even know who he was.

The bell rang. Liam gave me an evil glare. I shrugged, than walked to class.

*

After school I was walking home alone, Benjamin was at a friends house for the night.

I decided that I wanted to go to the park. I walked across the field and sat under a tree. I closed my eyes and embraced the fresh, warm air. I felt somebody was watching me. I opened my eyes and looked around, and sure enough, sitting across the field from me, watching my every move was the boy that helped me this morning.

I stared back at him, and not for a second did he or I look away.

I got up and started walking over to him. When I got to where he was sitting under a tree, I stood in front of him. His eyes were always on mine.

"I never really got the chance to thank you." I said. He nodded slightly.

"Why were you acting so protective?" I asked while sitting down. His eyes were on my face the entire time I was in the process of sitting down. The boy cleared his throat.

"That guy was being a dick." I laughed at his comment.

"I know."

Wait a minute, Adne! Did you just laugh? The hell is wrong with you? I thought. I was really confused now. This guy made me laugh, I didn't like laughing, unless of course it was at somebody being embarrassed, or, like, falling or something. I'm mean.

The boy smiled at me. His smile was perfect. The way his lips curved, and his dimples showed. I looked up into his beautiful blue eyes, and instantly got lost.

"What's your name?" I asked him. He looked at me, his face looking more serious now.

"Cole. Cole Dyer. What about you?"

"Ariadne. Ariadne Logan. But you can call me Adne." I said. He grinned and nodded.

"I know."
