It was the last week of school. Ever.
I was doing homework in the library. Calculus. I'm not a genius when it comes to math - compared to some, anyway - but a whole lot of people aren't doing Calculus in High School and I was trying to look smart as I wrote out a very lengthy equation.
"You left out a third exponenent," A finger poked onto my page and you seated yourself next to me, "That's sloppy," You said.
I looked up at you. Your darkish hair had been cut short, which was definitely a good thing since it had been getting a little out of hand. Sloppy? The stubble on your chin was sloppy. I said, "I didn't expect a random stranger to notice." No smile touched my lips.
"Aww," You said, blue eyes glittering, "You missed me. Hug?" You reached out your arm and I rolled my eyes.
"Really?" I said, "You find a random attractive nerdy-looking girl and you try to get a hug without even introducing yourself?"
"Attractive!" You snorted. "With your crap-colored eyes? I just felt bad for you, Random Stranger." Your smile was so... just... well I gave you a quick hug and laughed.
"Thanks for the charity. So what are you doing in these parts?"
You just quietly watched me, grinning. Then I poked you and you finally said, "Well, it's been a while, right? Long time no see?"
"Yeah. I can't even remember your name right off..." I smiled.
"Liar." You said. "What've you been up to?"
"Calculus," I said, gesturing towards my homework smugly.
"Right." You settled in next to me, folding your arms up. Silence crept over us.
It irked me.
I kind of wanted to ask why you stopped hanging out with me. It had, after all, been three years. You began to hum.
"I am trying to focus on homework," I said.
"I see." He clapped his hands on his knees and stood up. "I won't bother you then."
"But - "
"No, don't worry, I'll be seeing you around." You said this as you began to walk away, and then added, "Happy Birthday."
I was turning 19 in four days... and I never told you when my birthday was. You're such a creeper.
I got a text today. It said Your eyes are beautiful. It wasn't from you...
You guessed it.
