Part 2 Chapter 4
Though Raven and Griffin had moved to the wizarding world they still lived to shop at muggle placed (actually Griffin refused to take Raven to any wizard shops so that when the time came she would be amazed by Diagon Ally as her first experience).
So he was still forced to endure other annoying customers while he attempted to buy muggle clothes to wear to work, the situation make only worse by a whining Raven hanging off the crook of his arm.
"I don't understand the need to be here." She grumbled.
"I'm not leaving you at home alone, you're nine." He said without looking at her a he sifted through a rack of business shirts.
"No I mean here, at a muggle shop for you to wear to work, wizards wear robes and shit to Gringotts."
"Okay, several things to say to that." He started, "One, no swearing. Two, keep your voice down when talking about that. Three, I wear what I want to work. And four, don't talk about muggles with such contempt, you only found out about magic a few months ago and that does not make you better than them, we are all humans."
"You're acting like a dick."
"I said no fucking swearing!" he said, swatting her with the folded jeans he had under his arm.
A woman near him with a toddler cuddling her leg scoffed and glared, but behind him there was a giggle. The two Blacks turned and found a sales assistant behind them,
"I'm sorry, sir." She had to pause for a second to let out one small huff of amusement before continuing. "but this is a quality establishment and I must ask you to refrain from using such language at such a volume."
"That sounded incredibly scripted, are you required to say that by contract?" Raven asked in a monotone while staring unblinking at the girl.
"My apologies for the 9 year old with the high IQ." He said without amusement.
"I know more than you." Raven said in the same tone.
"Raven! What is with your attitude lately?"
"I've discovered by true self, Griffin. You should try it sometime."
"Jesus Christ." He muttered before Raven continued.
"Anyway, I'm bored by this so I'm going to go put a couple pairs of women's jeans in the men's section and confuse the fuck out of some dudes."
"Raven-"
"Sorry, quality denim garments." She added before darting off,
"I was going to say 'language'." He muttered to the space she once stood.
He turned to the sales assistant,
"Sorry about her."
"It's quite alright." She said with a smile, "Is there anything I can help you with."
"Yeah, ah, does this come in a smaller size?" he said, motioning to a shirt on the rack.
"Let me check out back."
~0~0~
"Thanks." Griffin said as he took the bag from the girl behind the counter, turning away from the register to discover, the previous store worker, Mel standing and waiting for him. The part that made him double take was the fact that she had managed to subdue (a grumpy looking) Raven, who was standing beside her, waiting for him too.
It was decided then, he was asking for Mel's number.
When he did ask, she hesitated for a second before putting it into the contacts of his phone.
"Cool, so we can arrange a dat-" he started.
"Can we go?" Raven said, her arms crossed looking at him expectantly.
Both Griffin and Mel laughed.
"I'll call you." Was all he could manage before he was dragged away.
Sorry for the shorter chapter.
