Part 1 Chapter 6

No matter how many times Raven told him he was sulking he refused to believe it. He took a while to admit to her what happened but when he told her the story she made the appropriate responses at the appropriate times and then proceeded to sulk with him.

He was not only again caught up with the fact that he loved his little sister but she was somehow his best friend as well. Part of him wanted to call that sad and disgraceful, but he would do anything for Raven, she was the most important person in his world and he like to think she felt the same about him.

On Friday morning he didn't go in for coffee. Raven still got up early and they had a long breakfast of eggs and bacon together and made a cup tea in hopes of replacing the coffee. He actually went into work feeling pretty good. Jayden came in 20 minutes late and got yelled at, that made Griffin's morning even better.

They had to organise themselves into several teams, four a pop to get ready for the next night's bowling competition. Competition wasn't the main goal of the night, but there were small prizes of gift vouchers for the winning teams.

It seemed to be all people talked about and he was done with it. Mandy and her friend were by the water cooler when he went to fill his mug out of pure boredom. She paused a second to ask him who he was bringing.

"Her name's Emily." He said simply as he filled up his cup, immediately regretting this bended position when he could practically feel Mandy and her friend checking out his ass, "I want you two to meet, I think you'll get along like a house on fire."

Sometimes Griffin missed using magic.

He didn't do it mostly for Raven's benefit.

But dinner was currently failing massively and if he just used his wand he would be able to correct this meal. But he held his ground, Raven's large eyes were gazing at him from the table several meters away, he would not give up.

He scrapped that pot of food several minutes later. A flash of guilt went through him as he remembered the times Ron would sheepishly and hesitantly mention how sometimes there wasn't quite enough food in the Weasley household. Mrs Weasley would have perfected the dish.

They ordered take away. Griffin felt just a little bit useless.

He realised he needed to go into Bean There on Saturday because he hadn't even told Emily when or where the event was being held. He was okay with this, he thought, he had had plenty of time to stop sulking as Raven insisted and he could face his shame at his failed attempt at asking her on a date.

He stayed by the bus stop where he could see the door clearly, deciding against going in to wait for her, when she exited he made his way over and pretended he had only just thought of coming in.

"Hey Emily, I was just coming in to see you."

"Oh, hey Griff. She said almost awkwardly before adjusting her bag on her arm before speaking again, "You didn't come in yesterday."

"Yeah sorry, emergency meeting with Raven's teacher." God he thought I am such a liar.

"Is everything okay?" she asked, almost sounding worried.

"Oh, yeah." He said casually. "But I'm just here to talk about tonight, if you're still in?"

"I'm always down for bowling." She said with a smile. "Where is it I'll meet you there."

As he rattled off the address of the bowling alley they were going to he really rather wished he hadn't bothered.
