We shuffled to my rooms slowly, so I wouldn’t jostle my side. It was obvious that Geo and Joy were excited to hear what happened tonight. In all honestly, I'm excited to tell them, but we all agreed that I needed to sit down and get out of my robes first.
We were behind the door to my rooms when Joy started squealing with delight. "Oh my gosh! You're in Alta with us! What do you think your grandpa wanted? Do you think you're going to be in trouble about the door you destroyed? ...Wait, Geo and I had nothing to do with the door but- hey wait! What happened in there I mean-" The girl didn't even stop to take a breath, she was finally cut off when Geo put a hand over her mouth. I could see her glaring at him, and knew she wouldn’t take kindly to his actions. My thoughts were confirmed when he yanked his hand away and wiped it on his pants calling her disgusting. Licking – a full proof method to tell someone to keep their hands away from your mouth.
I laughed at their banter, feeling lucky that they were still the same –even after they had gotten together. "Gosh Joy, you're just as bad as Geo is." He shot me a look, but said nothing. "How about you think of some questions while I have a shower, and when I get out, I’ll think about answering?”
They caught my teasing tone as I went into my room to pull some pajamas together then, went to my adjoining bathroom. I undressed and folded my robes neatly on the sink, examining my arms and side. The wounds were healing nicely, as they were barely visible. My side still stung, and was slightly red, but it was healing much quicker than I expected it to. I poked it, flinching at my stupidity but baffled because normally something like this would take a few hours to heal.
My eyes lifted from the scar that was forming and to my mark. It was probably the most beautiful I had ever seen- not that I had seen very many. Normally, if you see an Illian's mark, it's because you're close friends, or family - they're often hidden. They fade when you're outside of Illien territory –for the sake of secrecy, and Alta marks were the only ones that were on the upper arm. Idaa and Tayal had marks on their upper and lower backs, respectively. There aren't many Altas either, so I haven't seen many marks.
Each Illian had a mark that portrayed their affinity, so no two marks were the same. For mine, there were what looked like hundreds of lotuses, coming together and forming a thick, curved line that looped around my arm and eventually took the shape of a dragon. It was a metallic silver color that made my skin shine, so beautiful that if it could sparkle, it would have.
After ogling my mark for a few more minutes, I had a refreshing shower and then walked out to the living room. Geo had started up the xbox and was playing halo while Joy yelled over his shoulder that he sucked and he couldn’t be her Adour anymore if he didn’t win. They were a really cute couple, and I’m happy they finally got together. At first it was Joyia denying their connection, Geovanni would follow after her like a lovesick puppy, constantly flirting with her and confessing his love. She rejected him nearly every day, because we thought it was funny. I know, I know, what kind of friends would do that? But eventually the connection got too strong for Joy to deny- I caught them making out on my couch. It was pretty creepy -and traumatizing- but needless to say, they’ve been inseparable since then.
There was a different name for ‘soul mate’ in every Mythic community. Werewolves called them mates, Illien called them Adours, Fae- Tynim, Cursed ones called them partners, and Vampires called them blood mates. There has been inter-mythical mating, but none that I have seen happen with Illien people. Though, Joyia did have a cousin who was half human.
