"House is my religion
Trance is my mantra
Techno is my creed
Electro is my faith
Dubstep is my reason
EDM is my life."Waking up with a hangover is not a pretty sight, especially when it's your best friend who has the hangover and not you.
"What'd I tell ya' about partying to hard ay?" I sighed as I rubbed Teddy's back as he threw up in the toilet. Poor lad, didn't know how to hold his liquor. Well, neither did I for that matter but at least I rarely drank and even if I did it was hardly as much as he had ingested. Teddy groaned as another wave hit him and he emptied the contents of his stomach.
"Done?" I asked, continuously rubbing his back. He let out a grunt of acknowledgement and I helped the man to his feet unsteadily.
"You sit right there and I'm gonna get you some Ibuprofen." I said, seating him on the sofa, tossing a blanket at him.
On a normal day, say about two years ago, this wouldn't have happened because one, it would've been a school night and we'd both be studying, and two we didn't go to that many gigs or clubs anyway.
I grabbed the pills and a glass of water for Teds and made sure he downed everything before setting the glass down on the coffee table and stretching out beside him.
It was raining out, no surprise there.
This was usually the routine after nights out clubbing or raving, wake up, settle whichever of us was hungover (more often than not that was Teddy), turn on some BBC One and have a lazy morning in.
After about an hour or so of Sherlock reruns, I got up to make breakfast and ushered a drowsy Teddy to take a bloody shower since he still reeked of alcohol and not in a good way.
I got started on some sandwiches and had the coffee maker going and the kettle boiling at the same time. Just because I'm British doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good 'cup of jo'.
I was chopping up some tomatoes when my phone rang and I had to reach over to the kitchen island to grab it, positioning it between my ear and my shoulder as I continued to cut.
"'Ello!" I greeted and a familiar voice flowed through from the other end.
"Talia! Great you picked up!" It was Nick, sounding awfully excited about something. Well, he always seemed excited for things.
"What's up?" I hummed as I shifted the chopped up tomatoes to the open faced sandwiches.
"Listen I'm gonna be flying down later today but beforehand I'd like to ask you something." He said and I shifted the finished sandwiches to the kitchen island just as Teddy walked in, squeaky clean and towelling his hair.
"Hold on, give me a sec to put you on speaker, Ted's here." I said, changing the mode and setting my phone on the table.
"Ah good, hello Teddy." Nick greeted and Teddy let out a sleepy 'hello' as he quickly headed to to the kettle to fix himself a spot of chamomile.
"So I wanted to ask you guys about whether you'd like to join in this movement that some of us have come up with and put to together for charity." Nick said and the coffee brewer beeped, signalling that my Americano was done. Teddy grabbed my cup and handed it to me so I wouldn't have to get up to grab it and I gave him a quiet 'thank you'.
"What's it about?" I asked, inhaling the caffeine rich scent of my drink.
"Well so far we have six members, if you guys join its eight, and we plan to have a worldwide tour where we travel to different countries for gigs and half the proceeds of every rave goes to charitable organisations in the countries, so like children's charities, cure foundations, things like that." Nick explained and I exchanged a glance with Teddy.
We both knew what the answer seeing that we both had very similar views on the idea of charity.
"Of course we'd love to join." Teddy answered and I could practically hear the grin in Nick's voice as he replied.
"Wonderful! We'll all be gathering in Chicago on the 14th so you guys better get packing!"
"Hey Nick, who else is in the project?" I asked curiously.
"Well we have you two now, there's me, Martjin, Daan, Jordy, Tim and Wes. We've decided to call it the DEC, Dance Electro Crew." He replied and Teddy snickered at the name, earning a kick from me.
"Anton and Dillon aren't coming?" I asked, a little crestfallen.
"They've both got their own tours at the moment. Maybe next time." Nick replied and I shrugged despite the fact that he could not see me.
"'Aight, we'll see you later then. Bye, yep, love ya too." With that I ended the call.
"The DEC. What have we gotten ourselves into." Teddy chuckled as he downed the last bit of his sandwich.
"Well it's for a good cause and we haven't exactly had that many gigs this year yet so I don't see why not." I shrugged and sipped my coffee.
"Can't say that I'm not disappointed that Anton isn't coming." I said and Teddy hummed in reply.
"I'm looking forward to working with Tim though." Teddy continued and I raised an eyebrow cheekily.
"Ooh someone's got a man-crush?" I teased and he flicked some leftover crumbs at me in response, his face marred by a disapproving frown.
"Like you're not excited about working with Wes." He retorted and I rolled my eyes.
"After 'Where Are Ü Now' came out, I'm willing to bet our collab could be even better." I winked and Teddy rolled his eyes good-naturedly.
"It better be, we've been walking a tightrope for way too long now and I'd like to feel more grounded, have something stable going on, just in case." Teddy huffed and went to clear out plates.
"What? Don't like the feeling of having your head in the clouds?" I joked and Teddy snorted.
"Only you would say that Tali." He replied and I smiled.
"Yeah."
