"When the bass drops, so do my problems."

Nick arrived roughly around tea time and Teddy had just left the house to go do the groceries, after much complaining despite our agreement to take turns to do the chores. So mature of him.

I was in my comfortable-surfing-position on the couch with my laptop propped up on my knees and music blasting out loud in the empty apartment when the doorbell rang.

I plonked my laptop down on the pillows and lugged myself to the door, not quite expecting the sight before me.

"Someone looks sleepy." Nick snickered and I grinned and gave him a hug.

"So glad you're here." I said and pulled away only to realise there was someone behind him.

"I didn't know you were bringing friends along." I raised an eyebrow cheekily and Nick laughed.

"Wes decided to join me here first so that we four can leave for Chicago together. Daan's going with Jordy and Martjin and Tim's meeting all of us there. " Nick explained and I nodded in understanding, dropping Wes a nod and a smile before ushering them inside away from the cold.

"Sorry bout the mess, Teddy was hungover and it's his week to the do the chores which literally means he doesn't do them and the house is a mess till Sunday when it's my turn to clean." I explained to Wes sheepishly, fixing my long brown-green into a messy bun, Nick was used to the mess since he slept in Teddy's room on occasion when he visited and Ted migrated to my bunk bed for the night.

"Still got those Bourbons?" Nick asked, walking straight it the kitchen like he owned the place.

"Of course, we never know when you're gonna pop by." I teased as Nick tore open one of the cupboards in search of the delicious chocolate cookies from M&S.

I stood awkwardly with Wes in the living room as he looked around a the surroundings.

"Nice apartment you got here." He commented and I smiled.

Teddy and I might have gone a little overboard with decorating the apartment. There were two framed posters on the wall behind the sofa, one of "X-Men Origins : Wolverine" and one of "How to Train Your Dragon". Teddy picked the latter.

There was a fireplace with the mantel covered in Pokemon stuff toys and figurines (all of which, except the Leafeon plushy, were Teddy's).

There was a Totoro stuff toy sitting on one of the armchairs and the rug on the floor was 'Avengers' themed.

The TV was thankfully perched on the wall out of the way but the set of cabinets beneath it were littered with DC superhero and Pop! Funko figurines.

Yeah, it was a hell of a mess but it was our mess.

Wes was grinning as he looked around and chuckled at the sight of the Totoro plush which he picked up,  throwing me an amused glance.

"The hell is this?" He asked, squeezing it. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Seriously you don't know?" I asked and he shrugged.

"It's Totoro, a Japanese troll." I explained and Wes gave me the funniest look in the world.

"Make yourself at home, I'll get you guys something to drink." I said awkwardly gesturing to the armchair before scurrying into the kitchen.

Nick had clearly settled in quick, he'd emptied half of the packet of Bourbons on a plate with a mug of milk.
