"Leaving is the hardest thing to do,
but being left is harder yes it's true."The Italian place was actually rather satisfying as we ordered a pizza to share, pasta and of all things breadsticks. I paid this time much to Wes' disapproval, so as he took me down to the beach, he bought us ice cream and we sat side by side watching the waves lap at the dusty shore like one hungry beast with its prey always out of reach.
"I can't believe you think cookies and cream isn't a real ice cream flavour!" I exclaimed, licking the melting ice cream off the side of the cone as Wes rolled his eyes.
"They should just call it Oreo or something, that isn't a real name." He huffed pointedly as it was my turn to do the eyeroll.
"Oh please, as if mint choc is a real flavour. They probably squeezed toothpaste or something in there and sprinkled chocolate chips." I retorted and finished off my cone. Wes snorted and bit the tip of his cone and sucked out the ice cream before eating his cone, dusting his hands off.
"Did you have fun?" He asked as we sat comfortably in silence as the onyx sky melted in to cover the sunset bleached clouds.
"Mhm, the most amount of fun I've had in a long time." I grinned and Wes' smiled broadened to one that resembled the Cheshire Cat's.
"That's good to hear." He replied and brought his gaze back to look at the foamy sea as did I.
It was dark and reflecting the night sky, the sound of the rushing waves a calm soothing melody to the backdrop.
"Thanks for this." I said softly, not looking at him, not willing to risk seeing him like this and falling for chim like I fell for those boys who broke my heart years ago.
"You're most welcome. I had a lot of fun as well." He smiled, looking at me. I noticed him leaning in from the corner of my eye and alarm bells were going off in my head like crazy and I needed I find a way to avoid the situation.
I pulled my phone out and almost jumped at the time.
"Bloody hell it's eleven already? We better head back." I exclaimed, jumping to my feet, shocking Wes in the process who quickly regained composure and jerked back into his taught upright position.
"C'mon!" I pulled him to his feet and tugged him along. "We have events to attend tomorrow"
"Right." Wes smiled half-heartedly and I could tell it was forced. I felt a twinge of guilt at seeing him sad but I had a defence mechanism built in and I wasn't ready yet for another heartbreak despite the fact that I liked him.
We talked less on the way back and I forced myself to blame exhaustion instead of awkwardness.
"You go shower first, I need to check up on Teds." I told Wes once we'd reached out room and left to visit Teddy.
"Teds open up!" I knocked on the door and was surprised to find Jordy at the doorway instead.
"What a surprise Talia, come in, Teddy's in the shower." He was in a pair of sweats and a black tee and his hair looked thoroughly flattened on one side from sleep.
"Where's Tim and Daan?" I asked curiously.
"Here!" Came the voice from the joint living area of sorts where Tim was seated.
"There's that answered. Daan's sleeping." He said fondly looking at the bedroom and I nudged him cheekily.
"So it's official ay?" I teased and Jordy turned a cute shade of pink, looking sheepishly down at his feet, making me go "awww". I'd never seen him so docile before and maybe being with Daan was doing him some good since they'd obviously liked each other since being part of the appropriately fan-dubbed "Dutch House Mafia".
