The night was filled with dancing, laughter, giggling and talking. Kurt introduced Blaine to the different clans and their stations. Only two were snooty towards Blaine while the others were nice and intrigued by his tale. Kurt stayed by Blaine and tried to always steer him away from the council members who tried to catch a glimpse of Blaine. Eventually Blaine stopped Kurt when they reached their friends at their table.

"What's wrong Kurt?"

"Nothing is wrong. Why would anything be wrong?"

"Cause you're avoiding my question. Tell me?"

"I'm afraid of what the council will say. Sometimes these balls turn into an initiation of sorts and I'm worried they'll try something on you."

"Kurt I'll be fine. They can't be that bad, right?"

"Careful Blaine." Hunter whispered.

Kurt said nothing else for the rest of the night no matter how hard Blaine tried so he let it go for now. So Close by Jon McLaughlin began to play and Blaine stood, extending his hand to Kurt with his eyebrows raised. Kurt blushes and accepts his hand, letting Blaine lead them to the dance floor and once they were there Blaine wrapped one arm around Kurt's waist and took one hand in his while Kurt put his hand on Blaine's shoulder and smiled as they danced, ignoring the looks from the others dancing. All they saw was each other and Kurt began to relax as he let the music flow through his veins. Blaine pulled Kurt close and placed his hands on the small of Kurt's back and Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck. Blaine leaned in and whispered, hoping to relieve some of Kurt's worry.

"I know you worry about me but I promise that there is nothing in this world or down under that would make me leave you. They can try whatever they want but at the end of the day or this night I am coming back to you. I am coming back so I can hold you in my arms, so I can kiss you everywhere, so I can hear you talk about anything, so I can sleep by your side and wake everyday to a rare sight, so we can fight and train side by side."

Kurt shuddered while Blaine spoke and hid his face in his shoulder, tears threatening to spill. Kurt feared that he would lose Blaine to either a misstep or even excel well into Idris and want to stay. He's seen both options and didn't think he could bare it if it happened to him. He clung tight to Blaine and let the music and their swaying lull him to a sense of peace as if they were the only two in the ballroom. Blaine smelled of chocolate, lavender and cinnamon apples, a scent Kurt finds calming and warm. He relaxes and is able to feel how close Blaine is holding him and how warm he is. Kurt lifts and turns his head so his head is resting near the crook between Blaine's neck and shoulder. A hand slips down to rest over Blaine's beating heart and Kurt smiles because he can feel it and thank Raziel that he can because there was that one time where Blaine was still and cold yet he fought and came back.

"I love you." He said with his voice choked full of emotion and love. Blaine stopped for a second before he looked down at Kurt and pulled him flush against his body. Kurt closed his eyes to the warmth and smiled. He could hear the rumble of Blaine's voice in his throat.

"I love you too." Blaine said.

Kurt pulled back and looked into Blaine's eyes which were shining with adoration, love and warmth. Kurt leaned in and placed a hand on Blaine's cheek, his thumb playing with the light stubble before he pressed his lips to Blaine's. Blaine was taken back before he began to reciprocate the kiss. It was short for now but they pressed their foreheads together and gazed into each others eyes before heading back to their table hand in hand. Hunter and Kurt talked while Blaine talked to the girls. Hunter and Kurt looked at them with a smile before Kurt frowned.

"You're doing it again. Will you stop thinking about it? If they wanted to do it, they'd have done it already."

"I'm not doing anything or thinking anything." Kurt lied. Hunter smirked and nudged him until Kurt pushed him playfully.

"Alright alright fine I am. I'm not lowering my guard until we're out of here and in the Institute."

"And you have Blaine tied to your bed?" Hunter joked which made Kurt turn beet red and look away. Hunter laughed and wrapped his arm around his brother's shoulder and squeezed it.

"He's been doing great Kurt and you know it. It's the other option isn't it? The idris option?"

Kurt sighed and nodded. "What if he wants to go?"

"He won't. I know him and I know that he won't go anywhere that doesn't have you. He's not selfish. If he was, we'd have to kick him out. We saw you two out on the dance floor and believe me I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon."

"Have you ever thought about it? Staying here?" Kurt said, looking at Hunter.

"Once before Dad died. I was going to stay here and train and come join you and the others but plans changed and I knew that you needed me." I heard you talking outside his room is what he wanted to add but he didn't dare tell Kurt about that night. What he saw. What he heard. Kurt nodded and laid his head on Hunter's shoulder for a good second before he sat up and composed himself.

"I don't regret my decision Kurt. Not once. I know Blaine won't either. Have a little faith." Hunter said before going to get another drink and patted Kurt's back. Kurt had a lot to think about but for right now he was going to enjoy the rest of the night with his friends and Blaine. He did need a break.
