Imagine Bucky and the team surprise you by returning for Christmas.

Warning: Bucky says doll, so if that makes you weak like it does to me

Lena sat by herself in Avengers Tower, reading To Kill a Mockingbird. She has had the Tower to herself for the past two weeks with everyone out on missions. She had already accepted that she was going to be alone for Christmas this year. After she re-read the final words she looked at the clock.

11:15, December 23.

She hoisted herself off the couch and retired to her room, for the night.

I'm gettin' nuttin for Christmas... The dumbass song blasted into Lena's room. She bolted out of bed to find out what was happening. When she entered the living room, she found the entirety of the team in the living room and Tony curled up in a ball laughing so hard he was crying.

"Well good morning Lena," Bruce smiled at her, while she glowered at Tony and his antics.

"Tony you have three seconds to run before I set your ass on fire," she snarled.

"Oh come on," Tony sighed, standing up.

"One."

"Lena please," Tony's eyes widened.

"Two," she made a fireball appear in her hand.

"Lena, be reasonable," he begged.

"Three," she threw the burning ball towards her brother, which he ducked just in time for it to leave a scorch mark on the wall.

"I'm going to murder you," she charged towards him, but Bucky and Steve grabbed either side of her and hoisted her off the ground. The short girl soon started to calm down and the two men placed her feet on the floor.

"Well hello to you to," Clint greeted sardonically.

"Hi," Lena huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Nice to see you didn't do anything besides read while we were gone, as usual," Nat noted, nodding towards the pile of books on the coffee table.

"Not to mention the 20 classics I downloaded on my phone," Lena admitted sheepishly.

"Seriously?  You had the Avengers Tower to yourself and you didn't throw a single party," Tony asked incredulously.

"Not a single one," Lena confirmed.

"Not everyone likes parties Stark," Bucky defended Lena to her brother.

"Fine, whatever, but we're throwing a Christmas one tonight. No exceptions," Tony finalized.

*******
Lena sighed as she walked into the main living room. Her purple sequined dress fell just above her knees and she wore three inch heels. Her hair was curled and pinned back on the sides with pearls. She grabbed a flute of champagne and sipped nervously.

Unlike her brother, Lena Stark hated parties and always had. She found the whole ordeal taxing on her nerves and anxiety. She'd much rather spend time with close friends or read. Lena soon found a spot in the corner to observe her surroundings and avoid uncomfortable situations.

Bucky watched Lena from across the room only partially paying attention to what Sam was saying. She was peculiar, not like her father or brother that's for damn sure. She was reserved, calculating, calm, and observant.

"Go talk to her Buck," Steve encouraged, elbowing his best friend in the side.

"What would I say to her," asked Bucky.

"Ask her to dance. What happened to the Bucky that would take a different dame out every night," Steve asked elbowing him again.

"Would you stop doing that," Bucky requested, "and that guy was captured by HYDRA seventy years ago."

"Come on Buck," Sam piped in, "this is supposed to be a joyous occasion, and to be honest neither of you look very excited to be here," Sam shrugged. Bucky decided his friends were right. He was going to talk to the gal he had had his eyes on since he met the team.

Lena saw Bucky saunter over to her.

"Hey Bucky," she greeted kindly.

"Hey, doll," he greeted back. She smiled at the term of endearment. "So tell my why a pretty dame, like yourself, is standing in a corner all by herself?"

"Well this dame, becomes a nervous wreck at things like this," Lena's reply came out as a teasing tone.

"We have something in common," he shrugged. She looked at him, eyes full of surprise.

"You? Nervous at stuff like this? You must be trying to comfort me," she assumed in astonishment.

"Nope," he replied, "even in the forties I was a nervous wreck."

Just as Lena opened her mouth to talk, Tony started blaring music.

Receiving an instant headache Lena yelled to Bucky, "you want to go somewhere quiet to talk?"

"Sure," he replied. She grabbed his hand and together they weaved through the sea of people to the elevator. They finally made it to the floor Lena stayed on. 20 floors away from the party.

When they walked in, they already found big band music playing quietly throughout the space. "Glenn Miller," they concluded together. The two shared a laugh after staring at each other.

"Well, doll, can I have this dance," Bucky asked extending his hand to Lena.

"You may sir," she agreed, taking hold of his hand.

Bucky did his best to teach all the moves to Lena he could remember. She picked up really quickly and they were soon swingin' around the room. Lena's laughs filled the room along with the music.
They finally came close to a window and ceased so no one fell out. Bucky's smile faded as he looked above them.

"What's wrong, Buck," she had asked. He pointed up and her green eyes followed. They were standing underneath a mistletoe. She looked back to his face and smiled sheepishly. "Tony probably put that there just to mess with me. Don't-"

Lena was cut off by Bucky's lips on hers. It didn't take long for Lena to surrender to the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. His metal arm slipped around her waist. They pulled apart as the clock struck midnight, signaling Christmas Day was here.

"Merry Christmas, sugar," James smiled down to Lena.

"Likewise honey," she replied kissing him again.
