Chapter 5

Maddie's P.O.V

I was pissed off and getting worse as I stalked through the narrow alleyways, heading for a small and unknown coffee parlor, but they had the best coffee for miles around. Maybe that's what I needed after all of this.

"Come on, girly! Come play with us!" A loud, booming voice called, the sluring telling me a lot of things. "We promise to be gentle!" the voice called again, followed by obscene laughter.

I turned the next corner and stopped dead in my tracks. Kelsey stood back up against a wall with three big guys standing in a semi-circle around her. She glanced at them, and even from where I was standing, I could see her eyes wide with terror, but she was trying her damnest to hide it.

"Leave me alone," she said, tightening her grip on her purse. She was shaking but covered it up pretty well.

"Come on, sexy! Just go along with it; you might even enjoy it," the one closest to her replied, slowly getting closer to her. He reached down and unzipped his pants as he inched even closer to her.

I gasped as waves of pure fury rolled through me and I stalked forward, walking pass the three douche bags. I was on fire, and it was slowly burning it's way through me.

"There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you! My parents are waiting for us!" I gushed, acting like I hadn't heard anything and that I wasn't being burned alive by the rage I was swimming in.

"Maddie?" Kelsey asked, relief washing over her face as I walked up to her. I grabbed her arm and looked at the guys standing in my way, the fire abruptly getting hotter as I glared at the guy closest to us.

"Oh looky here! We've got another one, boys!" the first guy cooned, reaching out like he was about to touch me.

"Do not touch me," I warned calmly, inhaling sharply through my nose. The guy in front of us smelled like sweat, beer and very faintly, like some oddly familiar sugary sweet perfume. Kelsey started shaking again, her trembling getting worse. She was obviously terrified.

It was odd, like I had been slit in two different parts. One part of me was off to the side, watching and tell showing me what to do, indifferent to any emotions.

While the other half was hyper aware of everything, down to the littlest details. I could hear all of our heartbeats, how hard Kelsey's was pounding; the quick, alcohol induced throbbing of the douche bags in front of us and the calm, normal beating of my own.

The first guy shifted, his clothes whispering as he moved, the sound of his foot steps sounded like bombs going off. He brought his open hand up, like he was about to hit me.

I smiled, narrowing my eyes as the rage fueled the fire which burned even hotter and I felt something deep inside of me snap as the fire reached a peak, drowning everything inside of me in boiling fire. Everything slowed down, like they were all struggling to moved through goop but I wasn't affected at all.

I grabbed his wrist, smirking at the almost there look of shock on his face. I twisted his arm bringing it with me as I got behind him. I heard his curse of pain and one of his friends started toward me, bombs going off each time his feet hit the ground. I slammed my hand into his elbow, hearing the bone snap before I threw him into the brick wall that was in front of us.

I dodged the punch that his friend had thrown, using my momentum to turn my self around and get beside him. He tried to follow me, a look of pure confusion on his face as I kicked his knee. I heard a meaty pop and he cried out, grabbing at his knee. I slammed the heel of my hand up into his nose, before hooking my foot around his good leg and pulling it out from under him.
