Kimble's POV
After they took away Ezra, I was left alone with my thoughts.
What would they do to Ezra? The tall pale guy hadn't seemed like he was messing around. I had thought, just for a moment, that Ezra was going to be able to take them all out and escape. That he would take me and my brother to freedom. Ezra's speed had surprised even me.
But then the tall guy had pushed a button on his arm and Ezra had been shocked by the band on his wrist. After that he had gone with them quietly.
I glanced at my own wrist band. It looked completely harmless from here. Just a flawless band of metal. But it had stopped Ezra in his tracks as soon as the tall guy activated it.
I was alone for a while before Ezra's cell door finally opened again. I had no way of telling how much time had passed. Ezra was thrown into the cell by two stormtroopers, and the tall guy stood in the doorway.
"It is unfortunate that we couldn't make any progress today. Rest assured we will speak again," he said. Then the cell door closed. Ezra hadn't moved since they threw him inside. I hurried as close to the ray shield as I dared.
"Ezra?" I called softly. He groaned and slowly climbed to his hands and knees.
"Are you ok?" I asked.
"Obviously not," he growled, crawling over to his cot. I flinched. After he sat down with his back leaning against the wall, he took a deep breath.
"Sorry, torture and pain makes me crabby," he apologized.
"So they did torture you?"
"Yeah. They wanted info on my friends. I've never been tortured before. I never want to do it again either."
"You seemed to know the tall guy."
"He's the Inquisitor. A Sith. He's been hunting me and my master ever since I met the other rebels," Ezra explained.
Ezra stood up and shook his head.
"Are you well enough to stand?" I asked.
"Aw, you do care!" he teased. I folded my arms.
"No, I don't. I just want to know what to expect for if they torture me," I told him. He looked at me with his puppy eyes and I rolled mine.
"Maybe I care a little bit," I conceded. He grinned.
The cell doors slid open and a stormtrooper entered both of our cells.
"Mealtime. Get up scum," my stormtrooper growled. I didn't appreciate being called scum. I followed the stormtrooper anyway.
We were taken back to the same place we had eaten before. The same force users were there, with the same amount of guards as before. To my surprise (and slight annoyance) Ezra had reached Conner before me. I went over to join them. They were already deep in conversation. Conner was telling Ezra something in a very agitated voice.
"There has never been a riot or attempted break out on record," he said. "And believe me, it would have been on record."
"That doesn't mean that people haven't escaped before," Ezra pointed out.
"Unless you can get that restraining bracelet off, you wouldn't get very far. Every stormtrooper has a control panel built into their armor which allows them to activate every prisoner's restraining bracelet. The Inquisitor has all of the same buttons, plus buttons that control added security measures. As long as he's here, you won't be getting anywhere anytime soon."
"My master and friends are definitely on their way by now. With their help, there could be a mass breakout."
"Unless your friends have a legion of troops on their side and several star destroyers, they won't be able to do any good."
"I'll do it myself then. Just watch," Ezra promised. He winked at me before wandering away, in the general direction of the food dispensers.
"He's going to get himself killed," Conner muttered.
"Better him than us," I replied.
"You can't honestly mean that," Conner said while glancing at me. I shrugged. I wasn't sure if I meant it. I still wasn't sure how I felt about Ezra in general.
Kanan's POV
I took a deep breath before letting it out slowly. My eyes were closed as I listened intently to the force.
We had yet to find Ezra. Shortly after he stormed off, imperials appeared and forced us to take off. We had returned as soon as we lost them, but Ezra was nowhere to be found.
I was afraid that he believed we had abandoned him. That we had left him for good. I knew we hadn't, but Ezra didn't know that.
At the moment, I was attempting to meditate in order to sense where Ezra was by using the force. It was a risky method, because often visions and messages were misinterpreted. Receiving visions was never one of my strengths, although Ezra seemed to be a natural at it.
The force opened up to me and I saw a vision. A large building surrounded by lava. Someone was there, wearing an orange jumpsuit numbered 66. They were doing something. I couldn't tell what. The vision changed. I could see the Inquisitor. He was angry and talking to someone I couldn't see.
"Tell me where your rebel friends are," he growled. "It isn't that difficult. Once you do, the pain will end."
"I told you already, I don't know where they are. And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you," Ezra said. I couldn't see him, but even hearing his voice made me feel more hopeful.
"Call out to your master using the force. He will sense it and come. That is an easy enough thing for you to do," the Inquisitor demanded.
"I would never betray Kanan to you!" Ezra shouted.
"Very well. If you will not call out to your master, perhaps your pain will," the Inquisitor growled. He activated his lightsaber as the vision changed once again. I was running down the hall with the rest of the crew. Ezra was with us, along with three other kids I didn't recognize. Two were boys, one was a girl. Ezra and the others were all wearing strange orange jumpsuits.
"The last prisoner is this way!" Ezra called, running ahead and turning a corner. I heard laughter and Ezra scream as I activated my lightsaber and turned the corner.
Ezra was on the ground as a strange figure in a black robe shot blue bolts of electricity into the air.
My eyes flew open as I disconnected from the force. I didn't know what the whole vision meant, but I knew one thing.
Ezra was in danger.
