Ezra's POV

I didn't make much progress during the mealtime. I tried talking to the other force users and seeing if they would help during the great escape (I was planning on rescuing all of the force users), but none of them would even talk to me. Before too long we were all sent back to our cells and I was left alone with Kimble. She didn't seem interested in talking to me either.

Her cell door opened, allowing three stormtroopers to enter. The Inquisitor wasn't with them.

"It's your turn," the lead stormtrooper said.

"What could I possibly tell the empire?" Kimble demanded.

"We don't want to know anything," the stormtrooper told her. "You need to learn something. In this galaxy, there is no need for people with your strange abilities unless they join the Inquisitors. It is time for you to choose. The Inquisitors, or reconditioning."

"I would never join those parasitic freaks. I'd rather die," Kimble snapped.

"Reconditioning it is. Come with us," the stormtrooper said.

"I'm not going anywhere with you," Kimble told them while folding her arms.

"Refusing to undergo reconditioning will result in your immediate termination," the stormtrooper told her. She didn't reply. The stormtrooper made a hand gesture and the other two stormtroopers raised their blasters and pointed them at Kimble. My mind raced.

"Wait!" I shouted. The lead stormtrooper turned to look at me. I took a deep breath.

"I want to see the Inquisitor. I'm ready to talk," I told them.

"We will bring you to him following the termination of 67," the stormtrooper promised.

"If you kill her, I won't reveal this information. I'll touch the ray shield and kill myself. Your boss won't be happy then," I said. The stormtrooper kept staring at me. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking under that helmet.

He pulled a small metal rod thing from his belt. I took a step away from the ray shield, but I didn't have to worry. The stormtrooper touched the rod to the shield and the shield deactivated. He and the two other stormtroopers entered my cell. Kimble's eyes met mine. She looked shocked. I smiled weakly.

"Wish me luck," I said.

"Ezra, you shouldn't!" Kimble shouted, running forward and wrapping her arms around me. I blinked in surprise and hugged her back before one of the stormtroopers pulled her away.

"Back to your cell scum! You're time will come," one of the stormtroopers told Kimble as he threw her into her cell. The ray shield reactivated and the stormtroopers escorted me out of my cell.

I was escorted down the hallway and into a side room. The Inquisitor was there, waiting with his hands clasped behind his back. The stormtroopers left me alone with him, making sure to close the door behind them.

"So, you're prepared to talk?" the Inquisitor asked.

"I have information for you," I told him.

"I'm glad you came to your senses," the Inquisitor told me. I took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.

"The rebels can occasionally be seen on Lothal," I said. The Inquisitor's grin vanished.

"Is that all?" he asked angrily. I nodded. His eyes grew murderous.

"I am sure you have more knowledge in your mind. I simply have to unlock it," the Inquisitor told me. I began backed away from him. Eventually I could I no further because of the wall. The Inquisitor stretched out a hand and I felt like my brain had been shot with a blaster. Memories rushed through my head as the Inquisitor forcefully examined them with the dark side of the force. I felt cold all over, but I fought back. I kept him away from any important memories of my time with the rest of the rebels. Every time the Inquisitor came close to reaching those memories, I forcefully remembered something from my childhood. I didn't exactly want him to see those either, but I had to distract him with something.

After what felt like hours of struggling, the Inquisitor lowered his hand and the pain withdrew from my mind. I collapsed to the floor, gasping in pain and exhaustion. The Inquisitor growled and glared at me.

"You are strong willed. But you will break. They always do," he told me. He walked past me and opened the door. I didn't even have the energy to try to escape. The effort of blocking him from my important memories had been almost too much. The Inquisitor paused at the doorway.

"You have revealed much to me. More than you realize," he told me. Then he was gone. A stormtrooper entered the room and grabbed me by the back of my jumpsuit. He dragged me to my feet and forced me to walk forward, back down the same hallway we had come before. He opened my cell door and shoved me forward. I stumbled a bit before falling to the ground. The door closed behind me.

I sat up slowly and glanced at the door. I wasn't broken. I wouldn't break any time soon. And I would die before I gave up any information on the rebels.

I opened my hand. Clenched in my fist was a small metal object, very similar to a rod. The very same thing I had stolen from the stormtrooper as he threw me into my cell. The very same thing that deactivated ray shields.
