TWO

emily

once leondre and i arrived at school we walked to his locker first and then to mine, like on any other day.

when we both got to my locker, i was grabbing my books and out of the corner of my eye i saw leondre leaning against the locker next to mine staring at me with a grin on his face.

"it's rude to stare leondre," i playfully teased him but that didn't stop him.

he continued to stare before speaking up, "mabye, but not when the person your staring at is gorgeous in every way possible."

blushing profusely, i try covering my cheeks with the palms of my hands hoping he wouldn't notice the affect he had on me. he giggled slightly, before twirling some of my light brown hair into his long fingers.

"you're too cute em," he says grinning and locking his chocolate brown eyes into my dull grey ones.

the school bell suddenly rang, causing leondre to tear his eyes away from my own. but he connected his gaze to mine once again and opened his arms, signalling me to lean in closer.

i stepped forward and took the opportunity to wrap my arms around his neck while his own went tightly around my waist, pulling me even closer to his body.

after a few seconds, i tried to pull out of the embrace but he pulled me back into his chest and rested his chin on top of my head. i quietly hear him sigh in content.

"few more seconds," he mumbled giving me one more tight squeeze before letting go making my body feel cold without his warm, loving arms around me.

"okay, see you at lunch," i said watching him start to walk down the school hallway before he turned around to look at me, flashing me a smile.

"you most definitely will," he shouted back and turned back around to walk in the direction of his first class.

i turned on my heel, and start to walk to my first class as well. i couldn't help but let my thoughts wander back to the embrace leondre and i had just shared moments ago.

i also couldn't help but let a wide smile creep upon my lips as i once again, feel my cheeks heat up.

leondre devries, what are you doing to me.

hearing the bell, i let out a sigh of relief. i stand up and let my chair scrape across the ground before walking out of the classroom and making my way to the lunch room. but approaching me was the last person on the planet who i wanted to speak to right now.

her name was cindy peters. the one person who thinks it's funny to make my life as miserable as possible. she had blonde hair, heavy makeup and skirts which were always way too short.

"well, if it isn't the freak," she spat blocking my path along with her friends.

"excuse me," i said with my voice coming out shaky and squeaky making me look even more hopeless and pathetic than i already was.

she obviously noticed my tone of voice which made shake her head at me, "you are such a low life, no one is ever going to care about you because you are a failure and a mistake."

my eyes started to water, threatening tears to slip out. she gave me one last glare before laughing and walking off with her friends who all copied her actions.

after taking a few deep breaths, i walk into the lunch room and walked over to our usual table where leondre and charlie already sat. charlie was another friend of leondre's.

"hey guys," i greeted taking a seat down next to leondre before flashing a small smile at the two boys.

"hey em, how you doing," charlie said returning the smile but just with more enthusiasm than me.

"so, tonight charlie's coming over to my house for a couple of movies and pizza. do you want to come as well. charlie's bringing his new girlfriend and i don't exactly want to third-wheel the whole night," leondre asked looking at me with hopeful eyes.

"sure sounds fun, i never knew you had a girlfriend charlie. since when," i curiously ask while leaning back more in my chair.

"her names mia, we've only been dating for a couple of weeks but i really like her," he spoke somewhat excitedly while smiling.

"aw, good for you charlie. i look forward to meeting her," i say happy that he has finally found someone who makes him happy.

charlie and leondre started talking while i gradually zoned out just thinking about what cindy had said to me. i couldn't help but think she was right. mabye i was a failure and a mistake, mabye no one did actually care about me like i thought they really did.

my thoughts were interrupted by leondre grabbing my hand under the table, giving it a slight squeeze. he looked down at me before speaking.

"are you okay," he asked searching my facial expression as if he was trying to find an answer.

"yeah, i'm fine," i lied by flashing a fake smile becuase i didn't want him to see that i was upset.

he smiled in return still searching my eyes for an answer of some sort. he turned back to charlie and the two started speaking again.

however, he didn't let go of my hand the whole time which made my stomach flip. i was so glad to have leondre as my best friend.
