it was half-way through the week which meant that every teenager still had school, including myself and leondre. after what had happened a few days ago, i had convinced my mother that i had been sick but really, i have just been dreading going back to school.

after going through my usual morning routine, i slowly make my way down the stairs and into the kitchen where my mother was sitting down at the table eating breakfast before she had to go to work for the day. i have always thought about how lucky i am to have my mother. even though she is out a lot, she could always still manage to take care of me, which i have never taken for granted.

"morning mum," i greeted her while taking an apple from the fruit bowl that was on the counter.

"morning darling, how are you feeling." she asked and stood up to straighten out her long work skirt.

horrible, i thought. "i'm okay."

my phone lit up, signalling that i have a text. it was from leondre.

leo: i'm out the front xx

"alright, i have to go. see you later mum." i spoke while grabbing my school bag and giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"bye sweetheart," she said, "have a nice day."

i give her one last wave before slipping on my black doc martins and grabbing my bag. i walk outside on my front porch to be met with leondre. he was sitting down on the front steps, playing with the skull ring on his finger.

his back was still facing me, which meant he didn't hear me come out. i slowly make my way towards him while getting ready to scare him. just as i was right behind him he turned around and grabbed my legs and pulled me down, causing me to land in his lap.

"you need to learn how to sneak out of the door more quietly," he giggled and wrapped his arms more tightly around me.

"sorry," i giggled and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"are you ready to go," leondre asked.

i'm almost sure that he knew that i didn't want to go to school today but was just trying not to bring it up.

"sure," i sighed, "let's go."

as expected, it didn't take long to get to school. leondre continued to walk through the gates of school but i didn't move. he must have noticed that i was no longer walking next to him because he called my name and turned around.

"what's wrong em," he asked and walked towards me until he was standing in front of me.

silence came over me for a few moments, "w-what if they a-are here today."

leondre's eyes immediately softened when he knew that i was talking about cindy and her friends. he reached out and took my hand in his, lacing our fingers together.

"i'm not going to let them touch you, alright. i'm always going to be here for you."

he flashed me a reassuring smile and placed a chaste kiss on my cheek.

he pulled me towards the school gates and we walked to meet up with charlie and mia. we made one final stop to my locker before we had to get to classes. since we got to school, neither of us have said much to each other.

"hey," leondre spoke grabbing my attention.

he gently grabbed my hips, pulling me closer to him. i gave him a small smile which he returned. he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into an embrace. my arms immediately found their way around his neck.

"text me if you need anything, i'll see you at lunch." he whispered softly into my ear, his breath tickling my neck.

"okay," i spoke pulling away, "see you later."

he slung in bag over his shoulder and let his fingers slip from mine once again while walking away down down the hall to his class. i closed my locker and walked to my first class as well, just hoping that everything would run smoothly today.
