John, my name is now john. I have to constantly remind myself because people are beginning to think that I’m just being an asshole, I can’t help it if I don’t answer to John yet. Some random boy calls me by my new name and I turn around this time.
“Yeah?” I ask him and he continues, asking me if I want to sit with him and his friends. I’m about to reply when I feel Alan tugging on my sleeve; oh right were ‘friends’ now I guess.
“Sure, can my friend sit with us too?” I ask and the boy; Rickey gives me an odd like as if I’m crazy for wanting anything to do with him. I guess I am crazy so I keep my ground and he gives in leading us to his table. Alan keeps close not saying a single word, I pat his back and tell him its all good and he seems to relax.
“Hey guys this is John he’s new here and this is his friend uhh…” he looks at Alan and he says his name softly that I’m amazed Rickey could here him over the chatter of the rest of the students in this cafeteria. He points to a boy at the end of the table with a girl sitting on his lap “That’s Mitch and his future wife Jolie.” He jokes putting a smile on the two’s faces. The he points to two boys to the left named Garrett and Devin. “Oh and that’s Sophie.” He points to a blond haired girl who looks us over distastefully before winking at us and looking back at her manicured nails. Oh, what a bitch. We sit next to the girl and she immediately begins talking to me ignoring the fact that Alan is sitting in between us. I don’t like this girl; I really don’t like her she’s such a bitch! The whole time she was talking to me she was talking shit about everyone. Listen here slut; you aren’t better than anyone so you better shut your whore mouth before I tell my father about you. She starts talking about how I shouldn’t talk to Alan because he’s a total loser and that’s the final straw. Before I can stop and think, the words are tumbling out of my mouth.
“Sophie I think we should get to know each other a little better.” I say leaning in ignoring that Alan is right there and I’m practically in his lap. This bitch needs to stop, soon I’ll be able to sew her mouth shut and give her off to my father. I get up quickly and grab Alan’s small wrist, pulling him up and practically dragging him out of there. I don’t know how long we were walking around, my hand squeezing the life out of his wrist and him not saying a single word to me. He’s mad at me for not standing up for him; for dragging him into that situation. He didn’t want to be there but I didn’t care, I have more important things to deal without having little Alan’s feelings hurt. Ok, this isn’t his fault I shouldn’t be thinking like this but she was pissing me off already and I couldn’t stand the way she spoke about him, I don’t even know why I care. I punch one of the lockers, a loud crack pushing the anger out of my brain.
“Why are you mad?” he asks so softly that my heart practically skips a beat.
I look at him and he’s looking at his feet, I lift up his chin I get a good look at his face. He’s turning a slight shade of red but I don’t let go I keep looking into his eyes then down to his lips. I’m about to lean in to get a taste when I hear someone calling my name. I let go of Alan and turn to see Rickey running towards us.
“Hey dude, you wanna hang this Friday? Sophie’s throwing this little get together and she wants to know if you can come, she says you can bring your friend if you want.” I think about it for a moment then make my decision.
“We’ll try and make it just text me the details later.”
I look at Alan again after Rickey leaves and he’s looking at me with a hint of anger in his eyes. He’s angry with me? What the fuck did I do? He should be grateful that I haven’t killed him yet! Its not like anyone would miss him.
“What the fuck are you doing to me? You think its funny to fuck around with people like that?” he screams into my face and I almost break into a fit of laughter because he’s so cute when he’s angry.
“I’m not doing anything to you.”
He doesn’t seem to like this answer because he turns around and storms off.
“Ok princess, I’ll wait for you at my car after school!” he turns around and screams fuck you and turns away. He’s definitely coming back; he’s such a funny little ginger. I remember that my father is interested in him too and that snaps me out of it, fuck now I have to keep him close or my dad will get to him.

I’m waiting in the parking lot next to my car waiting for him because I know that he’s coming, he thinks I don’t know him but I do. I see him running towards me at full speed and he’s yelling ‘start the car they’re after me!’ but I don’t I stand there and watch as he runs behind me cowering in fear as some douche bag almost runs into me.
“Hey watch where you’re fucking going.” I spat getting right in this assholes face making sure that he knows that I mean business. He puts his arms up innocently as if he isn’t doing anything wrong.
“Listen here you little shit, you better watch it because if I find out you touch even one hair on this ginger’s head I will end you! You think I’m fucking around, just test me, and see how far that gets you.” His face pisses me off and I want to break it in. He doesn’t say anything he just glares back at me.
“What’s your name?” I ask him daring him to lie to me.
“R-ronnie.”
“Well Ronnie you shouldn’t stutter its really unattractive.” I laugh and tell Alan to get into the car. I’m starting to like this school already.
