629 Days Before Continued
I hesitated in my chewing, the blood soaked meat just resting in my mouth. The longer it sat there, the faster I felt like I was going to throw up. Bile was already creeping up the back of my throat. Just as I was about to swallow, the voice called out to me again.
"No! Don't swallow!"
Out of nowhere, Logan started massaging my throat, trying to get me to swallow the disgusting human flesh. I tried spitting it out, but he covered my mouth as well. It took everything in me not to swallow. If I was distracted for even a second, I knew that I would swallow and possibly save my brother. I went to swallow again only to once again be interrupted by a man bursting into my cell.
The man was incredibly tall, almost an entire head above me and I tower over most men older than me. He had to be the only Mexican that I had even seen with bright blue eyes. His hair was dyed a dark blue with black appearing on the roots. He was dressed in black combat boots, black skinny jeans and a black sweater. A black scarf covered most of his face from view.
"Logan! Stop!" He shouted, still rushing over to where I was. He threw himself as Logan, knocking him off me and skinning my wrists even more on the chains. A cry of pain escaped, as I spit the human flesh out.
The two men lay on the ground wrestling like two little boys. The strange man clearly d the upper hand. Knowing that I had to find me brother before they killed him, I struggled to get the chains undone from my hands. I knew that it was in vain to try and get out of them, but I knew that I had to try.
Looking back over a the man, I watched as he bashed Logan's head against the nearest wall, hard enough to knock unconscious, not enough to kill. He stood up, blood covering his knuckles, and walked the few feet over to me. He kneeled down, unchaining my hands as he did so.
"Be still Lizzie. I will get you out of here." He whispered, frantically working the chains from my bleeding wrists. The pain from them have long faded so I had no idea how bad the wounds actually were. I could feel the warm blood slide down my wrists before it dripped onto the ground, but nothing more, and nothing less.
"Who are you?" My voice came out harsher than I meant. I could see the man wince at how harsh it sounded. My attention drifted over to the meat that rested on he plate a few feet away. For some reason, I actually wanted to eat meat. I mean, it didn't taste as d as thought it would have. It could have tasted like a skunk spray jelly bean. Those things are the worse. Yeah, I've eaten one and I never want to ever again. My breath stank even after I brushed my teeth twice
"You don't need to worry about that right now. Let's just get you out of here first." The feeling of blood rushing back through my pale hands, I desperately tried to rub some life back into my hands. The fact that the man was hiding his name from me did not settle well with me. Why did he feel the need to hide his name?
"Come on, we have to leave now are we won't be able to leave anytime in the new future." Sighing, I wanted to get out of there, but the same time I needed to find my brother. I didn't know where he was, but he had to be here somewhere. I stayed up on shaky legs, stumbling towards the door that would lead to my freedom, that would lead to my brother.
"Where do you think you're going? We have to go out of here now." The man walk towards me, forcefully grabbing my arm. Fighting to get free, I still fought to get to the door.
"Let go with me," I hissed, practically spitting in his face. It look of shock covered his face like a mask and a masquerade ball. If anything he looked more hurt than shocked.
"Why should I even go with you? I don't even know you." Wow, cliche much Lizzie. You better come up with some good lines that don't sound like it came out of a 1980s movie, make that the 1960s. 'I don't even know you' that's like the second most common phrase used is cliché love stories. The first being, 'I fell in love with you the moment I laid my eyes on you' or something like that.
"Move your ass and come on before I leave you here. Pip seemed to be warming up to you quite nicely, if you know what I mean." He did that weird eyebrow thing where he lifted one hop and made the other go down then he left me standing on wobbly legs, staring after him like a lost puppy.
Something must be wrong with my brain for I wasn't thinking like I normally would. By now, you have probably already noticed that.
Summoning up unknown strength, I raced out of the room only to run right into his back. I didn't even have time to catch myself as I fell on my ass. This day, the struggle has made itself real. Yes the struggle, it is very much real as you and I. For some reason lately, it has been movie real than usual.
"Watch are your going, alright? We still have to get out of here and you aren't exactly the best person to rely on right now." I opened my mouth to protest, but he cut me off before a single syllable could escape my lips.
"Don't even speak." He hissed, clamping a sweaty hand over my mouth. Still through his hand, I tried to speak, but it only came out muffled.
I change my mind about this guy. He's an asshole. All I wanted to ask was who's Pip. I've only met Logan, Stevenson, and a few other guys who either guarded me or brought me food. There names were definitely not Pip.
He didn't say another word as he dragged me down the bleak hallway. To be honest, I have no idea where we're going. I thought the way out was the other way. Then again, that was where they dragged my brother when they took him.
I fought to get free of his hold. I couldn't leave my brother here to be killed. That's just insane.
"Will you stop struggling? Do you not want to get out of this god forsaken hellhole?" He hissed once more, tightening his grip over my mouth. If he kept getting tighter, then my lip is going to split open and I'm sure that he doesn't want blood on his hand. Especially my blood.
I shook my head, even as the pressing gets tighter. My brother is back there and I can't leave him here. Besides, the human flesh is just sitting in my room. If I take too long to get to it, it will get cold an nobody likes cold meat when they can have it warm. Wait a minute. I mentally smack myself. What am I thinking? I can't eat human flesh. That's just a big no no.
I need to get to my brother. I sign, hoping that by some impossible chance, he could understand what I was trying to say. I didn't think Logan would understand, but he did so maybe this asshole knows enough to let me go.
I won't leave without my brother. I sign, almost begging as the man kept walking. Only when he felt the tears that were leaving my eyes did he stop.
"What wrong now?" He grumbled, finally freeing me of his monster grasp.
I chose not to speak, but instead chose to run in the opposite direction.
"Hey! Wait!" He shouted. I knew he wasn't standing there because I could hear his footsteps pounding after me. It didn't take him long to catch me. My breath can out in short, frantic gasps as grid to regain the little dignity that I had left. Sweat dripped down my face even though I hadn't even ran that far. The door to my cell was a few feet back.
"We have to leave. Now are you coming or staying?" He asked, his grip on my arm tight enough to leave bruises.
"I need to find my brother!" I sobbed, fighting to get away from this horrid man. He was, as I have already said, is an asshole.
"You mean the little deaf guy who was a few door down from you?" I don't know where he was kept, but I did know that he was deaf, so I knodded my head earnestly.
"Charles. His name is Charles." I whispered, managing to stop the racking sobs.
The man's face softened. "He's already outside being examined. We have to see if he ate the meat here." A solemn look appeared on his face. "If he ate any of it, then he is going to have to be killed, I am sorry."
"No," I shouted, shaking my head in denial. "I told Charles not to eat it he would listen to me. The only reason I was about to eat it was because I was trying to save his life. They were going to kill him. I couldn't let that happen to my baby brother."
"Then, for your sake, I hope neither of you swallowed any. If any of you did, then the both of you will be killed."
