Keyas POV
We had landed in Mumbai Airport. The weather was quite pleasant since winters had just started. We had to take a second flight to my ancestral hometown were the wedding was supposed to be held.
All my cousins and parents are settled in Mumbai but they have already reached our ancestral house for the wedding.
It took us another 4 hours to reach the destination. Elijah was not used to the crowds and noise but was quite amused with everything.
My ancestral home was a country side estate. My grandparents were farmers. Our house was decorated with lights and flowers there was a canopy raised in the grounds for a all functions/rituals. It was afternoon when we reached, as soon as our car entered the gates I asked the driver to give a loud ear piercing honk. He laughed and did so and the whole estate boomed with the noise in the afternoon silence. Gia gave a loud laugh and Elijah was just looking from me to the driver.
Everybody came rushing out, nobody was aware of our arrival date it was a surprise, when Gia and I got down from the car it was just chaos. Everybody crushed us with a hug. Gia got the most hugs, tearsome ones though. My dad came rushing out disturbed from his afternoon nap. He was shocked to see me, when I ran in his arms he pulled me in a bone crushing hug. Mom waited next to him for her turn. Just then I saw Elijah waiting at the car door, completely lost not knowing what to do.
Elijah's POV.
We have been travelling for almost 18 hrs now.
The whole family was shocked at seeing Gia and Keya. I waited not knowing what to do. Just then a man came at the door. Keya ran into his arms Paapa. He hugged her and next to him stood a woman who looked almost like Keya, that should be her mother.
Then Keya and Gia touched feet of all the elders. ( its a sign of respect in India, you greet your elders and seek their blessings)
After a few minutes it all cooled down. The driver and the cousins helped me unload the luggage.
Everybody. This is Elijah Mikaelson a friend of ours he helped Keya di when I was missing, and is here to join us in the wedding celebration. Gia announced. The family elders stood silent not expecting it.
Welcome Son. Thank you for helping my daughters. Keyas father spoke, gave me his hand and led me indoors.
I obviously knew all the cousins, they welcomed me with warm heart, the hospitality that Keya's mom and the other ladies showed was tremendous. Since I had helped the daughters I was treated like a king and I didn't knew how to respond.
Have some tea, wait I will get some juice, and then there was loads of delicacies that was being served I didn't know how to react, and just gave a faint smile to Keya who looked from a corner.
The house had a huge living room apparently to accommodate the whole family during such get together. No one left the room.
Although there are multiple rooms in the house, the families in India don't look for privacy during such occasions. Aman said, it might be chaos for you but for us this is how it is every time.
I don't mind this at all Aman. I said.
Its tea time who all are in for it. There were votes for teas and coffees. Keyas mom left with one of her aunts to make the same.
Wait Amma I will help. Keya got up. No beta I will manage you rest you have been travelling. Her mom said.
Well we don't mind Keyas special tea, that we savour only when she is here. All the cousins voted, Keya smiled and left for the kitchen.
Guys its ready everybody to the dining hall Keya came out and announced. The dining room had a huge dining table which could accommodate at least 20 people at a time.
Keya was sitting opposite to me and speaking to her mom and aunt in her language which I didn't understand. I was surrounded by Aman and Yash. Keya's father sat at the center and spoke, boys why don't you show Mr Mikaelson his room.
Please call me Elijah sir. I said.
Very well. There are no sirs and maams here son. You can address the kids by their names and all of us uncles and aunts. He patted my back as he left.
Son!!!!!If only he knew I was far far far older than him I smiled to myself.
Yash got up once we were done with the tea and gave me a tour of the house. There were many rooms. Since the house was made probably generations ago.
Although, there are many rooms we cousins prefer sharing the huge room upstairs since childhood, its like a huge dorm attached with a huge terrace where all of us can stay together, we have loads of fun till late in the night playing cards, music, game's, playing pranks while others sleep and as teenagers they used to smuggle drinks and cigarettes too, we don't know that though, me and Sonia very little then we have been included just a few years ago. In the night time there is a wooden partition that can be pulled to separate the boys and girls section. The elders prefer the rooms in the lower floors.
The upper floor has a single room too, you can use that. Since we knew you will be here we had ensured that it remains unoccupied, you don't have to be uncomfortable in the dormitory.
But I don't mind staying in the dormitory. I said to Yash.
Very well then, but still let's keep the option of the single room open just in case we are a little too much for you to handle. He smiled.
We kept the luggage in the single room. He showed me the terrace and the dorm room he mentioned. The view from the terrace was amazing. It gave a look of the whole countryside. The paddy fields, green pastures, cattle grazing. Since it was evening, I could see many farmers returning from the fields. It also gave a view of the complete house, the courtyard and the upper view of the ground where the canopy was put. I saw Keya sitting in courtyard with Gia and playing with her cousins kids as her mother and aunts spoke to them.
I cannot wait to be a part of this family, and call this place my home too.
