Chapter 1.
I sat in the crook of a big oak tree waiting for my first victim. I wasn't going to kill him but I knew Robin and a few of his Merry Men were waiting just down the road less then a quarter of a mile away. This would be my first step in revenge.
I dressed as a common boy in a rough grey jerkin. I had put on a hooded cloak as if to shade my face from the blazing sun. I put dirt on my face and leaves in my hair to give the appearance of a small beggar. I was small for my age, even for girls my age. I had a dagger in my worn leather boot and my bow hidden within my torn cloak. I pulled out a dented cup and held it out, 'begging'.
There was a jolly fat man in the carriage and he looked at me and looked sad in an instant, "Lad would you like a pence?" he said stepping out of the carriage. I saw a flicker of emotion and saw he was pretending to be nice.
He would drop it in the cup and take everything in my cup out.
"Yes Sire." I said holding it out toward him. When he was reaching in a lashed my leg out knocking him to the ground.
His fake smile faded. The man driving the carriage stepped down off the carriage to help his master but I whipped out my knife holding it to his throat. "One false move and he is dead." I said, "Now listen to my demands, I want the money you have brought along with you, all but enough for you to spend a week or so at a common inn."
The man under my blade laughed. "Why should I listen to you little boy, how old are you, 5?" I pressed my knife a little harder across the nape of his neck.
"No I'm 11 years old, and I have a knife to your neck, don't you think you should listen?" he sighed and signaled for his measly servant to get his belongings.
I grabbed almost all of It but still left 5 pounds. I smiled and jumped into the nearest tree disappearing. I heard the snap of a whip and knew that the man and his servant were off. I crossed the road behind them and went high up in the trees until the branches were so brittle even I would fall through the foliage.
I was easily above Robin's unalert Merry Men. The carriage even got there right as I did. They jumped out in an ambush. The man and his servant realizing I hadn't been a Merry Man of the famous Robin Hood, figures.
I saw Robin open the casket were the money of the man was kept. He looked at the pounds that were left and laughed, "How could a man of your stature only have a measly 5 pounds?" as he continued he seemed to get angry.
I smirked as the casket was passed around the astonished boys. "R-r-robin H-h-hood, I thought you robbed me just a quarter of a mile away. A small boy of 11 robbed me of almost all I had, leaving me with 5 pounds. I smirked. Robin's face got red with anger and embarrassment, the famous outlaw losing his bounty because of a wee 11 year old boy, or should I say girl?
Little John stepped forward, "Give me 15 men and I will find this, this intriguing young boy." Little John said.
"I will come with you-gather all the trackers we have, we are not losing to a kid." I was angered at this and grabbed a pence from my heavy sack. I threw it at Robin and with a thud almost knocked him over.
"Ouch, who threw that?" he asked with anger. I smiled and turned accidentally rustling the tree branches. All eyes were on my tree and Robin said smiling, "I think we found our mysterious thief."
