Chapter 2
My adrenaline started pumping into overdrive as I jumped tree to tree. I knew the only way to lose them is to get to my hidey hole. No one but Robin and his Merry Men knew about it. They had followed me a while ago and found it. I swore to kill all of them if they told anyone. They took it as a joke and agreed. If only they knew I know many, many ways to kill them with my bare hands, not to mention the ways with knives, bows and various other weapons.
I felt so free. Then I stepped on a brittle branch and started to fall through.
I closed my eyes and felt my life flash before my eyes. I felt a hand grab me by my hood. I looked up and saw Little John holding my hood in triumph. Robin was in the next tree over. He grinned mischievously. I tried wiggling out of my predicament but John easily pulled me up. He smiled and said, "You are almost as small and cute as Celeste, you are just as annoying to."
Did John just call me cute? Barf. I could almost feel the bile coming up my throat.
"I agree Little John." Robin said followed by a few murmurs of agreement. Ugh, now I could definitely taste the bile.
Sure Robin was sort of handsome but is annoying...even if he is just.
"What do we have here?" he asked hopping down from the tree he was perched in. Little John jumped off the low branch and threw me at Robin' s feet. I quickly got up and drew my hidden knife. Robin smirked at me and said, "You wouldn't dare."
I threw the knife taking off Robin's favorite hat. I smirked and answered with a fake boy's voice, "Oh yes I would." Robin had panicked for a second and he knew it.
More Merry Men came from all around. "I'm your worst nightmare. Bye!" I said right as I saw an opening.
I knew I was faster then all these boys being used to playing tag with most of them when we were younger. I heard shouts but couldn't tell what they were saying. I smiled at myself and out of the corner of my eye saw an arrow whiz by with a whoosh. I kept running and pushed my self harder. When the creek was in sight I hid in a near by cave.
They ran right past it. I changed into the clothes I had hid and became Celeste Luna again. I dropped the clothes and money behind a rock and looked to see if any one was coming. Not a person in sight. I walked out of the cave in my moss green dress and walked casually to the creek sitting down on a rock. I started skipping pebbles.
I sighed in relief. I had done pretty well for a 15 year old. Well, maybe I did lie about my age.
After a while Robin and Little John got the idea of turning around. To bad they ran right into me. I didn't even know which one hit me. I fell into the creek and heard Little John and Robin laughing. I had water in my mouth and I was scraped up from stones at the bottom of the creek bed. I was now soaking wet.
I spit out the water like a fountain which made them laugh even harder. I saw a trout lazily swimming in front of me. I grabbed it out of the water quick as a hawk and threw it at Robin and Little John. It hit Robin directly in the face knocking him over. I was still in the creek when the rest of the Merry Men were back panting. They saw me in the water and guessed what had happened. They started laughing.
Then they saw Robin dazed on his back with Little John checking his face and a flopping fish next to him. Their laughing died down as they crowded around him to see if he was okay.
"Ughhh," he finally muttered. All were questioning Little John about what had happened.
I just smirked at him. He saw my smirk and realized the fish hadn't jumped out of the creek like a frog jumping out, but that I had thrown it. He stood up and pushed his way through the Merry Men that were looking at him in confusion. He stepped into the creek and yanked me up.
I glared at him and kicked him were it hurts. Causing him to collapse in a disgruntled heap. The Merry Men looked up at me in surprise and anger just realizing what had happened. "What?" I said fake smiling sweetly.
At that moment Robin chose to get up. "Wow, what happened to John and I?" he asked his men.
They all pointed at me.
I looked up with an innocent face that clearly said, "Who me? Never." Robin knew better though.
"You have a good arm Celeste. And obviously are good at kicking. Wait, have you seen any small boys running by?" I smiled and said something before thinking. "You just got fooled by the newest outlaw, Luna the Shadow."
They knew I was talking about myself, they just laughed. I smirked but Robin looked confused. "What, you don't believe me, I have proof. Come." I said leading them to the cave. I grabbed the clothes and held up the money. "Ha, ha you got beat by a girl Robin." I said in a snippy voice turning to my fake voice.
They all stared at me in disbelief. "You ruined my favorite hat, threw a fish at me and kicked Little John. You will not get out of this so easily. I challenge you to a shoot off. Winner gets to do want they want with the money and has to do something for the other person. Deal?" Robin said hiding his still surprised expression.
The Merry Men were high fiving Robin because I could do a lot for them. I mean my dad is a knight. So I'm actually Lady Celeste. Blah, blah, blah.
I just smiled which made Robin's confidence waver but was quickly erased by what he thought was a sure winning. "Sure, let's go right now." I said pulling out my bow and arrow.
"Hey I thought you quit because I was the better prodigy." Robin lashed in surprise.
"I quit in a way." I said smirking. "How about who ever does the coolest trick." said smiling.
"Out of two tries." I nodded my head in agreement.
He eyed a tree and shot it in a small hollow directly in the center; he shot his arrow splitting it down the middle. The boys clapped because they knew he was just warming up and 'would easily beat an inexperienced girl'. I shot an arrow at a fish spearing it easily. I had aimed at the worst part to hit a fish on purpose so the boys booed me thinking it was my regular shot.
I faked a frown as Robin smiled. He shot an arrow at a leaf farther away and once it pierced the leaf and the ground sent another splitting the arrow. They ooohed and ahhed. I rolled my eyes and shot my arrow quickly shooting another after it splits it in midair and some how landing and splitting Robin's arrow that had already split the one that pierced the leaf.
They all looked dumbfounded and said after considering it, "Robin wins fair and square." I looked at them and appalled, "No way, my trick was way better it has never been done before."
They looked at me and laughed, "Yah it has never been done before,' Robin said mimicking my voice, "that is how we know it was a fluke." I glared at him but could easily see the amazement and jealousy in his eyes. I smiled and said, "It wasn't a fluke and I'll do it again" I pulled and released just like last time and did the same thing.
They still looked amazed. "Sorry, they already picked me as a winner and I get the prizes." Robin said with the Merry Men nodding in agreement.
I threw the money at them and knocked the boy who caught it down. They checked to see if he was alright. Then Robin glared at me as I smirked then he smiled, "You have to be my servant for a day."
I looked at him and said simply, "No." I turned and started leaving. I heard the fall of feet behind me and started to run in a second I was tackled by Robin.
I fell once again into the creek but with him on my legs. I tried squirming from his grasp but failed. I was quickly surrounded by Merry Men. "Hey Celeste you made a deal with Robin and you need to keep it." When I heard someone say that I kicked Robin off of me.
"Do you know why I hate you Robin, because you are always steeling the spotlight, not any more. The only reason our bow and arrow teacher trained you more then me is because you are a boy. I easily hit the target before you, straight in the bull's eye." With that being said by me I stormed off leaving a lot of the boys in a daze especially Robin.
Little John was whispering something urgent in Robin's ear when the first arrow whizzed by me.
