“I figured as much, though you 2 aren’t exactly the quietest walkers…” Quinn said shooting them a pointed look. “Sorry sir!” they both all but squealed backing away, heads bowed. I will not bow to some guy who appears out of nowhere, so if he expects me to, I will refuse. I am not a normal girl after all…even if I have to act like one. “You. Girl. What is your name?” he asked turning towards me. I looked him in the eyes, then averted them knowing most girls would never be able to meet his strong gaze, “Celeste.” I answered simply. “Celeste…well Celeste, what is your business being out here?” Quinn asked suspiciously as he began to circle me. “A walk.” I said blurting the 1st thing that came to mind. “You must’ve gotten lost to be this far away from civilization…do you happen to be directionally challenged?” he said still unsure about me. I can assure him I am not directionally challenged, I actually know a majority of these woods pretty well. “No, I was just thinking that’s all. I know where I am, judging by the poplar trees and the sound of flowing water, I’m close to Bane’s creek which should lead me right to town.” I said not meeting his eyes still. “Very observant aren’t you. Most girls I’ve met would just act like a damsel in distress for my attention which is rather annoying. You won’t even meet my gaze. They usually just gawk at me like I’m a rare specimen.” Quinn said taking a step towards me and grabbing my chin with his hand. Crap, he thinks I’m abnormal now, plus he’s too close for my liking. “Yes, I’m not like other girls. So I would appreciate if you removed your hand from my chin and stepped back before I do something about it.” I said coldly glaring up into his eyes. His eyes widened for a split second before a smirk crossed his lips. He leaned in closer so I could feel his warm breath on my lips, “What could you possibly do, to harm me?” he breathed looking into my eyes. That was the last straw, he was way too close. My eyes narrowed and I grabbed his hand, twisting it hard and spinning him around so it was pressed against his back. “I told you to back off.” I hissed into his ear from behind. “Where’s the fun in that?” he laughed looking back over his shoulder. I was taken aback by the amused expression on his face, somehow it made me…hate him even more than before. Why are all attractive men complete and utter imbeciles? “ You should know I have a few tricks up my own sleeves.” Quinn laughed kicking backwards. I reacted instantly, but it was a second to late. The force of his kick to my knees sent me reeling to the ground, letting go of his arm. I had been outsmarted this time, but I can assure you, I won’t let it happen again. I jumped up, used to falling down quite a bit due to the fact I had been clumsy when I was younger. He smirked before pulling a knife out. Looks like my luck really ran out when I threw my knife away. Great! Suddenly, I heard a rustle from behind me and turned quickly, only then remembering Rock and Twitch. Gosh, I thought they left. I blocked a blow from Twitch, only for Rock to have thrown another punch. I jumped back into something solid and grunted at the unforeseen impact. “Looks like you’re coming with us my dear.” Quinn whispered into my ear much like I had to him only a few minutes before. I turned my head, ready retort, only for an odd smelling rag to be put up to my nose and mouth. Before I knew what was going on, my body felt numb and my eyelids felt heavy. The stupid twit! He was poisoning me! Just as my senses all but disappeared, I heard him say something that would’ve frozen me if I hadn’t already been poisoned, “We’ve got the Shadow, now we will win…”
