Chapter 5
I went to my secret hunting spot that I always used for releasing pent up anger after especially hard Wednesdays with Rodney. I had long since made my own hidden fort in which I kept the money I stole temporarily as I distributed it amongst the villagers of various small villagers. I groaned as I realized I still had to figure out how I was going to avoid my mother for the rest of my life...or at least until I got married. That is NEVER going to happen, so I just have to stay here for the next few years! I can hunt for meat, scavenge for berries and herbs, use the brook and boil the water on fire so I can drink it, and continue annoying Robin and the Merry Men! That doesn't sound half bad! Plus if I stay in the woods then I can ignore Rodney and any of his idiotic followers! Yay! It's a win-win situation for me! I stood up content with my plan. I crouched as I exited my fort and sighed. Now I should actually go hunting, and not just laze around on my butt scheming against my mom. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my heart as I breathed softly. I took small steps straining my ears as I tried to listen for anything. I heard rustling after a few moments and smiled happily. Eureka! I tip-toed towards the direction of the noise hoping it was a buck or even a wild boar. Something besides a hare or a skunk. I don't want to be sprayed again like when I was 14 and Robin steered me in the direction of an angry mama skunk with her 4 little babies. It took a while to get the smell out of my favorite brown cloak. The only good thing is I threw a tomato I had picked to get rid of the smell at him. The rustling stopped for a moment and I froze. I hope I didn't scare it away! Especially if it is a skunk...it'll probably spray. The rustling returned and I had to stop myself from sighing in relief. I continued towards the rustling only to freeze at what I saw. It was a gruff looking man, someone I had never seen before. Not even once in all the years of my life and I've been giving money to villagers in all the surrounding villages, I know who comes, and who goes. He definitely wasn't a noble either. His attire was old and ragged, and there were bandages that were turning an ugly yellow brown on his hand, and in the middle was a dark brownish red stain. We looked at each other frozen in surprise. Is he an outlaw? I snapped out of it 1st. "Who are you?" I asked curiously. Only a second later he seemed to snap out of it to, except he had a different reaction. His thin lips were twisted in a cruel smirk, a weird glint in his eyes. "Look's like I found myself a pretty one. Come on girly, I'm takin' you back to camp." He rasped out reaching for my wrist. I frowned angrily hitting his hand away. His eyes widened as I pulled out my trusty hunting knife I always kept with me, even at parties and such. "I'm not going anywhere with a strange man I just met, and in the middle of the woods. Now answer my question, who are you?" I growled not liking him one bit. He looked at me shocked for a minute but his face contorted into a smirk YET again. If he tries anything...I'll carve his face into a smile just so I don't have to see him smirk again. The thought made me smile but a sudden movement behind me snapped me out of my thoughts. I dropped to the ground and rolled out of the way as a man landed right where I had been standing. So there's more of them are there? "They call me Turk." The 1st man sneered. I looked up at the 2 men and rolled my eyes. As if they could take me. I mean, I've been chased by the Merry Men thousands of times, and they have YET to catch me. "Well Turk, what is your business in Sherwood?" I asked curiously as I stood up glad I hadn't stabbed myself by accident. "Why should we tell you?" the other one spat. I sighed closing my eyes then opening them. "Good point. But I have a sharper one, and I suggest you tell me your business here." I growled holding up my hunting blade to get my point across the idiots. "Awe, look the little girl is trying to stand up against outlaws. Little brat." Sneered Turk-who I am nicknaming rock. Probably due to the fact he has the knowledge of one. So they're outlaws hunh? Maybe I should let them capture me, just to see how big of a threat they are. "O-o-outl-l-laws?!" I stuttered shocked trying to act like a normal girl would. "Now she's comin' to her senses." The other one I was nicknaming twitch smirked. I nicknamed him twitch because his eye had a weird twitch I widened my eyes in 'terror' and threw my knife blindly. They watched wide eyed but it wobbled in the air and hit a tree 5ft from them. I had purposely thrown it like that, not like they needed to know. "You really are a stupid one aren't ya?" Rock laughed evilly. "No! S-s-stay a-a-away f-fr-from m-me!" I squealed. Gosh, this better be worth it, or I'll kill the lot of them. "We won't hurt you. We just want you to come with us to the camp, quick before Quinn finds ou-" Rock grabbed my wrist roughly only to be cut off by a new, younger voice. "Before I find out what? My idiotic men kidnap a girl on whim?" We all turned around and my heart all but stopped. The boy I saw before me was to handsome to be real. He had hair as black as a raven's feathers, and eyes that looked like blue lightening. He was muscular, that much I could tell through his tunic, but not overly like some men I had seen. He was tan and had dimples as he smiled. He was absolutely perfect. I felt his eyes on me and felt my cheeks and neck heat up. Thankfully,
I was now playing a role of a normal girl so it was only natural I would blush under the gaze of a godly man. Much to my anger though, I would have blushed either way. He winked at me and I had to stop myself from swooning. Instead I stared at him in 'awe'. After I realized what I had almost done I had to stop myself from glaring at him. I hate him for being so perfect. "Q-q-quinn! We weren't expecting you!" Twitch began stuttering. Quinn hunh? Definitely fits him...
