Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated...I have no excuse. So I've talked about my church Manchester Christian and if any of you go there you know the pastor likes to make top 10 lists. I thought I would try it so here are the top 10 biggest lies the world tells Christians. Maybe people don't say this aloud but it's certainly implied in today's culture. Some of these are taken strait out of my pastors sermon so these explanations aren't all mine.
10: Don't trust anyone but yourself
Ok let's be honest. Only trust yourself? Not anyone else? What is that? Where would we be if we didn't trust anyone but ourselves? Nowhere good! If we only trusted ourselves we could never love and be loved which I think is the second worst thing only to eternity without God. And if we only trust ourselves where does God come in?9: look out for # 1
Ok? Ummmm...I get where they were going with this but still. What about family and friends? Do you just drop them? Again if you follow this than are you ever going to love and be loved?8: you can be your own God
If I was my own God I would be a lonely person. Who could I talk to when I need help? When somebody's hurting and they need help? When someone's lost and needs to be found?7: God doesn't need your money
True he doesn't need it like us humans do. He wants it so that we can prove to him that he is in control. For we cannot serve two masters.6: God is a far away God
No he's not! God is right here right now! He loves us. When somebody is so sick the doctors believe they will die but they live or what about the overwhelming comfort when we worship him? Is he far away then?5: where was your God when...
Where was your God when your parents divorced? Or a sibling died? Or you found out your boy/girlfriend was cheating on you? He has a plan you may not see it( I struggle with this. I mean, what plan could God possibly have for me?) he was there shaping your life and making you stronger.4:you just need to be good to get into heaven
No! You have to be perfect! For the wages of sin is DEATH! The only way to become worthy of heaven is if we except Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.3: Forgiveness makes you vulnerable
No it doesn't. If we can't forgive others their faults, can we believe God really forgave ours?2: you worshiped on Sunday, now is [insert any other day of the week] you did your good dead, God won't fault you for having a little fun!
God is not something you take out on Sunday mornings and put back after. He's here all the time!1: you don't need God
You need God.
I'm sitting here now thinking of a good way to explain this. The only way I can think of is explaining what God means to me. My need for God is bigger than my need for air, food, water, shelter, and music combined. (If you know me you know my great love for music). I need him so much I would give up anything for him. I love and need my God.
