Rainfall glistened the black pavement. The only thing visible in the dark and cold night as you strode around drowning in your own thoughts. The weight of your chest grew even heavier and made each breath you take sting like if someone lodged a lighter down your windpipe. Your hand found its way to a butterfly necklace that slowly made a ticking sound. Your fingertips brush against the silvery butterfly and the "tick tick tick" noise bought you back into ease. It was habitual to look down and touch your necklace. Suga gave the pendant to you right before catastrophe struck.
"Even if I am not here, by your side just always know that the necklace will always be a piece of me." said Suga.
You clear your throat and paced towards a long and ancient gate. It was painted with silver and oxidation but the sign on the gate says: "Resting Ground".
You shutter and proceed cautiously towards the gate. A gray fog settles on the darkened ground and leaves you with intense chills. You held yourself close when the gate gave out an immense creak opening the land of the dead. You swallowed a blood curdling scream as the shrieks of the dead filled the cold and dense air. Mourns and crying were heard from a young girl. She wore long black hair that covered her face along with a floral pattern dress. She held a dirt covered baby doll that limped loosely on her arm. The young girl hummed a soothing tune with the doll clutched to her chest. Carelessly a dead leaf crunched under your foot causing the girl to go silent. Two black sockets for eyes looked at you directly. Cobwebs were visible and bugs came crawling out of her head. She turns to look at you with a wicked smile. You made a run for it without second thought. You only thought ghosts existed in movies of some sort or you were the victim of a grotesque joke. Sitting on the side of a small stone you panted for breath. You looked around and the girl was nowhere to be found. Only the sound of ravens accompanied your lonely self. You take the butterfly charm from your neck and settle to the gentle ticks. You heaved a sigh of relief and stood back up. Pillars of tombstones as far as the naked eye can see. On the left corner of the resting ground lied a grave. The grave was a color of a faded lavender, a small butterfly landing on a delicate flower was sculpted into the stone. Roses, candy, and letters were put around the stone. You silently came close and kneeled down towards the tombstone.
"I promised you that I would come!" You said joyously.
You set down a glass-made heart statue next to the tombstone.
"Things have been going good, you know. Jungkook is finally getting accepted into a University. You always use to pester him about he needed to raise his grades. But he only does it since you would be proud of him." You said.
"Min Yoongi: A man of creativity and hard work. A loving friend and a caring colleague." said the tombstone.
"I always remember the first time you gave me this necklace. You would joke about how if you were gone that I wouldn't have to worry. You always said 'goodbye doesn't always mean it's forever.' I was assured that you would be safe on that trip to Brazil. But when the news came after the others arrived...."
You curled the butterfly necklace in your hand and the tears trickled down your warm colored cheeks. Sobs were choked back as your whole body shook. Your knuckles turned white as the full moon. Your tears looked like diamonds that spilled out of the corners of your eye. Each day was tougher than the last for you. Having to fake joy on a constant basis became a never-ending battle. Dreams of being close to Yoongi and tasting his sweet lips haunted your thoughts. The sweater he lent you still smelled like pine trees and a touch of cologne. The sleeves turned damp under your tears.
Do you think I would just let you sit there and cry?
You looked up with puffy red eyes and yelped with fear. Yoongi stood a few feet away from you with one leg standing on another grave. He rolled his eyes and stepped down to the moist dirt.
It's good that everyone is doing fine. How have you been holding off?
You blinked in shock.
"I must be hallucinating, there's no way that ghosts exists!" You yelled. An intense feeling of coldness weighed on your back. A chilly breeze nipped at the back of your neck.
If the little girl you saw wasn't an illusion. I'm just as real as she is. Said Yoongi.
Your eyes widened and you fell backwards to the ground. Yoongi's deathly cold hands grabbed your arm and lifted you up. Your lips trembled with the touch of Yoongi. He had the hollow and vague look under his coal black eyes. He drew a small smile across his face.
"I really miss you," You whimpered.
The tears welled up in your eyes once more. Your legs buckled under with a sudden quickness that you had to lean against a tree. You shocked your head violently and kicked the damp dirt. You swayed side to side and screamed in agony. A sharp pain pierced your chest with each hiccup that echoed from you. The image of Yoongi was still there. He hadn't vanished.
I know how hard my departure was for you. But you have to move on! There's a life outside that you still need to explore. You have much to live for. I have lived my life.
Your shoulders slumped against the tree. Your hair was wild and tangled in your face. Yoongi walked closer and placed your hand on his cheek. He breathed out in joy as your warm hand gave the nostalgia of living the human life. You stood as his cold finger traced your cheeks then went to your collarbone. Yoongi's blond and ruffled hair brushed on your forehead. You missed having him close to you. Every inch of you wanted to hold him close and think he was still alive. Your fingers itched to find the warmth of Yoongi's body but instead was greeted by a frozen touch. His hands circled the back of your neck and fingers entangled in your hair as he laid a kiss upon your delicate and plump lips. You stiffened and muttered under his lips as he slowly slid closer to you. Each kiss was sweet and gentle, but your warmth did not phase this young man. The sweet caramel scent still clung onto Yoongi long after he was dug up. Your hands found his broad and paled grey shoulder and they sat gently to rest. Yoongi's eyes flutter open and he bites down his lip. His blood would have rushed to his cheeks if he was living.
"I thought ghosts couldn't make contact with humans." You whispered.
Yoongi chuckled and traced a heart over your hand.
Well, I sort of had to do somethings in order to see you for this long. Said Yoongi.
"What kind of things? You'd risk your afterlife just to see me once more?"
Anything for you before I say my last goodbye and leave...
"But..will that mean I ever get to see you again?"
Yoongi looked down and inspected his fingernails.
Sadly..no..I need to pass over before I get send down to purgatory. I pleaded to the ones that would guide just some spare time. And I chose to spend my last moments with you.
You giggled but was welcomed by tears once again.
I just want to say: Thank you for making my life the best one I had ever lived! I wouldn't know what would be of me if I had never met you. I pray that in our next lives, destiny strings us together once again. For now..I gotta say goodbye.
A giant light ushered from the clouds above as winds grew gusty and wild. Whispers of the crossed over souls surrounded Yoongi''s body while he slowly levitated off the ground. White butterflies fluttered in giant swarms over the whole resting ground leaving an astonished glow much brighter than the moonlight. Their wings let out a warm glow and Yoongi smiled peacefully then looked at you before a trail of white dust was all left. You were back into the dark once more.
"Thank you...Yoongi," You whispered.
You picked up a glowing orb to see it was your talisman. The silver butterfly ticked and its wings fluttered. The glow never ceasing to die, you felt its heat radiate onto you. You played the necklace onto your neck and stared at the sky blanketed with stars.
Be safe,my dear...Yoongi whispered.
