An hour later, Spencer and Toby were lying on the floor playing Scrabble. Toby was winning, like always. Spencer put down the word 'squeeze'. "That is 75 points for me. Plus the double score is 150 points for me." Spencer told Toby while laughing.
Even with those points, Toby was still winning. He put down a word, and got 128 points. "Sorry babe, but I win." Toby smiled, and Spencer pouted. "Like always." Toby mumbled under his breath. Spencer pushed him playfully. There was a knock at the door, causing both of them to jump.
"I'll get it, Toby." Spencer told him, and rose to her feet. Spencer opened the door to see her mom standing there. She took in Spencer's outfit. Before they had started playing, Spencer had changed into one of Toby's long t-shirts and a pair of short volleyball shorts that didn't go down past mid-thigh.
"Spencer, you're coming home, now." Her mom told her, calmly.
"Mom, I am home. I already unpacked all of my stuff. I live here now. You can leave." Spencer told her, and tried shutting the door on her mom. Veronica caught it, and shoved it open. Toby was lying down, propped up on his elbow watching the girls argue.
"You will not kick me out. You can not kick me out. You do not own this property young lady." Her mom told her.
Toby jumped up from his position on the floor. "No, she doesn't. But I do, and I order you to get off of this property now." Toby said to her calmly.
"You can't order me to anything. YOU knocked up MY daughter, remember?" Veronica yelled at Toby angrily.
"I am well aware of that. I will at least love this baby, unlike some people." Toby shot back. Veronica huffed, and stomped away.
Toby shut the door and turned to Spencer. When he saw her sad look Toby embraced her carefully and she shoved him away. "What's wrong, baby girl?" He asked her sadly.
"YOU BEAT ME AT SCRABBLE!" Spencer whined and pouted her lip. When she saw Toby laugh at her, she turned her back to him and started to stomp away. Toby chased after her and grabbed her arm, spinning her around so she was facing him. When he saw the tears in her eyes he immediately hugged her, his arms around her shoulders. She cried into his shoulder, and wrapped her arms around his waist.
He pulled away, and looked at her seriously. "Honey, what's wrong. Tell me the truth, please." He felt tears start to form in his eyes. Spencer didn't deserve anything that she got from her family.
"It's just the hormones." Spencer replied truthfully. Toby walked over to the couch and threw his head in his hands. Spencer walked over to him, and placed a hand on his back. As she did so, he jumped, obviously lost in thought, not seeing her walk up. "Toby? What's wrong, baby. I'm here. Tell me, please." Spencer told him.
"It's my fault your going through this. I'm the one that knocked you up, like your parents said. Spencer, I'm sorry." Spencer sat down next to him.
"It isn't your fault Toby. I love you." With that, they just sat on the couch in complete silence.
