Belle's P.O.V.-
The lake came into view just as the sun was beginning to grow dim. "Look, overe there," Sage said pointing over my head and towards a small lake house on the other side of the lake.
I sighed before pushing the brush infront of me aside and stepping past it. The mud grew squishier as we neared the house. It was silent nad the lights were off. "Hello?" Mom called out, "Mom!" I warned, "If there's crips in there, we're dead."
She nodded in response and I turned before jogging up the wooden stairs onto the back porch. Just before I could reach the back door a voice came from inside the house. "Leave, now!"
"Hello? We're just looking for shelter for the night, we really could use some help." My mom called out again. I rolled my eyes but listened, Whispering came from inside the house. I was about to give up, when the glass door slowly slid open and an older man stepped out.
"You're welcome to stay for the night..we have food and water if you need anything." He said before stepping to the side. Sage nodded before leading mom inside.
As I walked past him, I glanced at him and he just motioned for me to walk inside.
------
A small table sat between us as we all sat down to eat. "I'm sorry if we seem rude, I think we've failed to introduce ourselves. I suppose we could all say our name and anything we should know,...for example.. " The older woman, who I was assuming was married to the man said with a smile.
"I'm Elizabeth Curry, I'm 45 and I'm married to John. We have two children, Jeremy and Adison. We're originally from Tenessee." She smiled expectantly at her husband who slowly set his fork down.
"I'm John Curry, I'm 48, I'm married to Lizzy and we have two children. Jeremy was visiting a friend in Tennessee when this all started. We are setting off tomorrow to find him." He said with a nod.
"I'm Adison Curry, I'm 18, Uhm..I have a brother.." She said with a soft smile. The young girl was pretty for the most part, and around my age.
Sage sat beside her, "I'm Sage Clayford. I'm 18. I have a sister, Belle, and A brother, Mason." He said with a nod.
"I'm Laura Clayford. I'm 39, and I have three kids." She said before glancing over at me. I sighed and gazed at everyone, before slowly setting my fork down.
"I'm Belle Clayford. I'm 18 and I have two brothers, Sage and Mason. Mason's only 9 and we lost him in a crowd when this all started. We are looking for him. my goal right now is to just find him," I looked down at my food before grabbing my fork again.
"I'm so sorry.." Elizabeth said softly. "We're gonna find him." I said looking back up at them. "So things will be okay." I looked back down at my food.
"Right.." John said slowly, "Just like we'll find Jeremy." He said, The girl smiled before looking back down.
-----
The next morning started early as we all packed our bags. Adison had made her way over to my bag and watched as I slipped a picture of Mason into it. "Is that your little brother?" She asked. She had dark brown hair with light blue eyes. They were pretty, as they studied the picture. "Yea, he's my responsibility." I replied.
"Jeremy is my everything..he was more like a bestfriend than a brother.." She said slowly. I nodded in response, "Mason is only my halfbrother, but still. He's family," I said shoving it into the bag. Adison smiled, "Yeah, I get it." She replied softly.
"Adison, are you ready?" John asked walking away from the stairs. "Yeah, I'll be right out." She said eyeing her father before looking back at me and swinging her bag over her shoulder. "Where are you all heading to?" She asked.
I shrugged, "We don't know. We're just trying to find any sign of people we can. Hopefully Mason is in a group, or in some kind of shelter." I replied swinging my own bag over my shoulder.
"Well, we heard Tennessee was a safe zone for survivers, that's why we are so sure Jeremy's fine. Maybe you're brother is there?" She said with a shrug.
I laughed once, "Maybe, but the chances are small,.." She furrowed her brow, " Well, what other plans do you have?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, I eyed her. "None, I guess." I laughed once.
"Well, you folks are more than welcome to tag along." John said approaching us with a smile. My eyes flickered over to mom who stood a few feet away.
"It's as good as any idea," She said. "Great!" John smiled, "Strength is in numbers, nowadays." He said before walking for the door.
"What's going on?" Sage asked walking over to me as Adison walked after her father. "We're going to Tennessee." I replied, adjusting the bag on my shoulder. "What?" He asked in a confused tone. "Come on," I rolled my eyes before heading out of the door.
