My mom quickly pulled the needle further from my leg, pulling the stitches tight as I dug my face into my brother's chest, trying to keep quiet. She cut the extra off of the stitches before wrapping it in  ace bandage and sighing, "Okay.." She said. I finally looked away from Sage's chest, my face pale as I breathed heavily from the pain.

"Okay, so you should be fine, we'll just need to clean it again soon and redo it. I'm sure when we get home, we'll be able to..uhm-"

My mom spoke frantically, trying to keep her mind busy so she couldn't think of the situation. "Mom.."

"We'll be able to help it heal quickly and-"

"Mom." She looked up at me, the shiny trails on her face making it obvious that she had been silently crying while she fixed my leg.

"We need to focus.." I said softly. She eyed me for a moment, but slowly nodded in understanding. Sage slipped out from under me and walked over to a corner in the room. "Good. Now that we are all focused, I saw a group of survivers go into a room a few halls down. Including Mason." He said bending down and picking up my crutch that I set against the wall. "Belle, come here." I looked over at Mom, who wasn't paying attention to us.

Slowly, I slid my feet off of the couch and stood up before limping over to him. As soon as I got closer, the nervous look on his face worried me as he grabbed me, turning his back to mom. "Mom is in no shape to do this. So, it's me..and you." I raised an eyebrow, "I'm injured, I can't do this..we don't even know what they are." I whispered frantically. "Belle,..I need you." Sage said quickly, staring into my eyes.

His deep brown eyes were nothing but serious and desperate. I made a nervous and sad look, but slowly nodded. He nodded back and held the crutch out to me, "Don't use it for your foot, use it as a weapon." He said. I nodded, "Good, stay right behind me, I'll lead."

" You don't have a weapon," I said quickly with a worried look. He looked my face over, for any expression before reaching into his back pocket. He pulled out a folded knife and flipped it out. It was large, definitely not a regular pocket knife. "Is that.."

"Yeah, it's dad's knife." He said, quickly changing the subject, "Just stay close." I nodded.

He walked over towards the door, but stopped and kissed mom on the head before reaching for the doorknob. She payed no attention, and simply stared at the wall with a blank expression as another tear fell down her cheek.

I limped after Sage, just before he quietly opened the door. He stuck his head out into the hallway, and looked around before motioning for me to follow as he walked out slowly. I followed, and silently closed the door behind me after her motioned for me to. I held the crutch defensively in my hands, gazing around at the empty white hallway. Papers were scattered around, but other than that, it looked like a simple empty hospital.

As we neared the corner of the hallway, things became worse. A good sized puddle of blood lay on the floor. It smeared into a drag mark that disappeared around the corner. Sage eyed it before sighing and looking away. I stared at it, a chill going up my spine. Sage stopped as we reached the corner, and placed his back against the wall before slowly gazing around the wall.

"Oh my god." He mumbled. "What?" I asked. With no answer, I walked around him in plain view and looked down the long hallway. It was nothing like the other hallway. Papers laid across the floor, blood stained the white walls and puddled around the doorways. Bodies laid against the wall and halfway in rooms, though something about them was weird. They had gun shots to each of their heads. Lights were knocked from the ceiling and were flickering on and off.

My legs grew shakey as I made a shocked whimper and placed a hand over my mouth before stumbling backwards. The next thing I knew, Sage's arms were around me. He pulled me against his chest and began to whisper to me,
