Dylan's POV

Dear Journal, December 8th 2014

Damion has been really nice to lately, we talk all the time. Sometimes it surprises me that a guy like him would want to talk to a girl like me. After he gave me his number last month we started talking a lot. We talk about our favorite things to do and sometimes we even talk about my writing. He thinks I'm a fantastic write just like Mrs. Jackson said.

Whenever I talk to Niall about Damion he seems really distant. Like once I was telling him something funny that Damion said the night before and he shrugged his shoulder and changed the subject. Should I be worried about this?

Your Friend,

Dylan Hamilton

Niall's POV

"I really don't like it Dylan, you shouldn't associate yourself with him! He's bad news!" I spoke into the phone.

"Niall, he's fine. He's been really nice to me. Isn't that all that matters?" Dylan sighed.

"Yes, but-."

"No buts, it's fine Niall. Leave it be." Dylan sounded annoyed. I sighed and toned it down a bit.

"Alright Dill, but the first time he ever does anything to you, he won't see daylight again." I warned.

"I know, I know."

"I have to go, I have Hockey practice at the rink. I'll text you later."

"Bye Nialler." She replied before hanging up the phone.

It's halfway through Hockey practice and I'm ready to go to sleep. They had us skate up and down the rink as fast as we could for 20 minutes and then we played at least 3 practice games.

I took off my mask before gliding across the end of the ice. The cold air felt good against my face. They were letting us take a short break before we continued to practice. I look up into the stand, not expecting to see anyone sitting there. To the far right I noticed a little red head sitting on the bleacher, it was Dylan. she smiled down at me and stood up from her seat. I smiled as she descended down the stairs and approached the half wall that surrounded the rink.

"Hey Nialler." She smiled.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

"I heard you had practice here and I was bored." She laughed before flipping her bangs out of her face with her hand.

"Yea, we're almost done with practice right now but you can stay to watch the rest. Did you walk here?" I asked.

"Unfortunately, yes." She sighed.

"I can give you a ride home." I offered.

"That would be lovely, thank you." She smiled. Just then Coach blew his whistle, signaling that our break had ended. Dylan gave me a quick thumbs up before returning to her spot on the bleachers.

~

"Hey Horan! Was that red head your girl?" My teammate Toby asked as he skated by.

"Who, Dylan? No, she's just a friend." I replied as I skated faster to catch up with him.

"Yea, and the sky is just green. I saw the way you looked at her, you like her." He smirked before skating away. I sighed in defeat and skated on.

I smiled up at Dylan any chance I got, I just couldn't wait for practice to be over.

~

I could feel my bones start to ache as practice ended, I was exhausted. I pulled my mask off and threw it into my bag. My jersey clung to my skin as I dripped in sweat. I sighed, closing my locker door and clicking the lock shut. I slung my bag over my shoulder and headed out of the locker room. I was greeted by Dylan seated against the wall.

"Hey Dill." I smiled as I reached for her hand and pulled her up to her feet.

"You smell gross." She chuckled as I reluctantly let go of her hand. "Piggy back ride?" She asked.

"Fine, only because I can't say no to you." I sighed before letting her jump onto my back. She draped her arms around my neck and locked her legs around my hips. Her head rested on my shoulder as I walked towards the exit. She felt cold from the rink, instantly cooling my back. I smiled as she used her hand to push the door open and the chilly December night greeted us.

"It's a lovely night isn't it?" She admired out aloud.

"It really is." I agreed before approaching my car. Dylan slowly slipped off my back and waited for me to unlock the doors. Once unlocked we climbed inside and I started the engine. It took a couple minutes to warm up and a few more minutes for Dylan to stop chattering her teeth. I rested my hand on the back of her seat and looked back as I pulled out of the parking lot. I pulled out onto the street and drove on. Within 5 minutes Dylan cashed out, she sat fast asleep in my passenger seat. Every second I could I would look over to admire her. The way her nose flared when she breathed in slowly. Every now and then her nose would wrinkle up as she shifted. I'm guessing she still takes her depression medicine which makes her sleepy. I felt like a creep for watching her sleep but I couldn't help it. The ten minute drive seemed to fly by and I didn't want it to end.

When I pulled up into her driveway it had just begun to snow. The small white flurries fell down from the dark night sky, making the air seem even chillier. I slowly rested my hand on Dylan's arm.

"Dylan, we're home." I nudged her again. She slowly opened her eyes and stretched her arms.

"Did I fall asleep?" Her voice sounded sleepy and tired.

"You were out cold before we even pulled out of the parking lot." I smiled as I turned the car off. She opened her car door and got out. I followed her towards her front door.

"Thanks for coming to my practice to watch." I interrupted the silence.

"You're welcome, thanks for driving me home." She smiled as we stepped up onto her porch.

"Have a good night Dylan." I smiled. I pulled her into a small hug. She wrapped her small arms around my lower back and rested her head on my shoulder.

"Goodnight Nialler." She whispered as she slowly pulled away. I felt a sudden urge, one I needed to fulfill. As she began to pull away I quickly leaned in, our lips touching. I kissed her.
