Dylan's POV
Dear Journal, December 14th 2014
It's been awkward, like really awkward. Ever since Niall kissed me last week things have been way different. For example we never spoke of it after it happened, not one word. The day after he picked me up for school and we acted as though nothing had happened. It's been weird. I must admit, I didn't hate it, it was very sweet, but I don't think I have feelings for Niall in that way.
On the other hand, Damion and I talk frequently. A couple days ago me and him met up to get some coffee. It's fun having another friend to talk to, especially one that isn't that bad looking. Sometimes I wonder if this will ever lead to something. Do I want it to? Maybe this is good for me. At least I hope it is.
Your Friend,
Dylan Hamilton.
I signed my name and closed my journal. Today I have to turn it into my therapist. They have to read my entries and evaluate how much progress I've made since my little "incident". I'm proud of myself for getting better, but I really don't want to hand in my journal. It's really a privacy issue. What if they read it and think I'm crazy or something. The last thing I want is to go back to that stupid hospital. Niall said he would drive me to take it, maybe then we can talk about the kiss.
I sighed and pulled my hoodie over my head, Niall was going to be here any minute. My head was pounding from lack of food for the last couple of days. It's not my fault my stomach doesn't feel like digesting properly. I heard Niall's car horn go off outside and quickly grabbed my bag that contained my journal. The outdoors greeted me with frigid air as I stepped out of my warm house. I practically ran to Niall's car so I could feel warmth again.
"Dylan, have you ever heard of a coat?! It's nearly 20 degrees outside!" Niall greeted me warmly, sarcasm intended.
"I don't believe in coats Niall, they're a waste of time." I answered coldly as I buckled up.
"They aren't a waste of time when you're freezing to death in the middle of winter and you don't have any way of gaining warmth." Niall smirked.
"Whatever Mr. Technicality." I shortly laughed as he pulled out of my driveway.
"So where is your therapy place?"
"It's downtown, next to the library and the Police Department." I responded back before rested my head on the side of the door, all this medication was making me exhausted.
"You okay Dylan?" Niall asked.
"Yea, I'm just tired still."
"When do they take you off of the medication?"
"I don't know yet." I answered before closing my eyes. The hum of the car made me even sleepier as he drove on.
~
"Dylan wake up." Niall spoke gently as he nudged me.
"Did I fall asleep?"
"Yes, yes you did." He laughed before getting out of the car. I looked out the window to see my Therapist's building. I sighed in irritation and reluctantly climbed out of his car.
We entered the building and climbed the stairs to the second level. The waiting room smelled of old cat women and beef, maybe the secretary was having a BLT like usual. I approached her desk and pulled my notebook from my bag.
"Well Good Morning Dylan, how may I help you today?" She greeted me.
"I'm just hear to give my therapist my notebook." I answered before slipped it across the counter.
"I'll be sure it gets to her ASAP dear, have a wonderful day!" She spoke in her usual cheery voice.
"Thanks!" I replied before turning around and walking towards Niall, he was looking at the fish tank in the corner. As I came closer I noticed the goofy faces he was making towards the fish. "What on earth are you doing?"
"Oh, um. The fish looked like they were having a bad day so I decided to cheer them up." Niall answered quickly as he jumped back.
"Well that's a plausible reason to leave a face print on the glass of a fish tank." I giggle before grabbing his arm and dragging him towards the stairs.
"What's the rush Dill?"
"I need coffee. Can we go to the shop?" I asked as we descended down the stairs.
"That's fine, I figured you'd wanna see Sal anyways." Niall chuckled as he opened the door for me. I climbed into the passenger seat, ready for warmth again.
We entered the coffee shop, the aroma of coffee beans and whip cream filled my senses. I missed this.
"Welcome to Sal's Cof- Dylan is that you?!" Sal looked shocked to see me.
"Yup, how is everything?" I asked as I took a seat at the counter.
"Well, we've seen better days. Being short a worker is hard but we're managing. How are you doing?" Sal grinned as she laid a napkin and spoon in front of both of us.
"I'm doing much better now, the doctor says I should be able to come back to work in about a week. I went back to school about two weeks ago and it's been better than I expected. Everyone has been nicer to me now." I replied.
"That's amazing Dylan! I'm so glad that you're doing better! Would you guys like a coffee?" She suggested.
"That would be lovely, thanks Sal." Niall chimed in. I smiled as she poured coffee into our cups.
"It smells delicious, I haven't had coffee in forever." I grinned as she handed me my cup.
"Well, you deserve it." She smiled back as she handed Niall his. "So what are you guys planning on doing today?"
"I don't know wha-." I started to answer when Niall interrupted me.
" I was planning on taking Dylan out to take some pictures around town."
"Oh really? That sounds nice." Sal smiled as she cleaned the counter top.
"I wondered what you had planned for today." I smirked before taking another sip of my coffee. But what did he mean about taking pictures?
