My back touched the rough wall as I searched for a way in without getting noticed. I found an opening and was just about to run when, "Hey. What are you doing?" a boy asked."Why do you want to know?" I retorted."Well, someone isn't happy." He smirked at me. "I'm Cheng." What does he want from me? I thought."What's with you?" I asked, ignoring what he had just told me. "Can't you see I'm trying to do something?""You know, you'll never break in there without my help. Here, hide." He told me.
"I'm not going to hide.""Do you want to get caught?" he asked me. "Well of course not!" I responded. "Then trust me and hide." he told me. And I decided to trust him. So I hide in a dark alleyway and watched him intently. I saw him start to throw pebbles at the guards and ran as they chased him. A lot of them chased him. I found an entrance and ran in. I snuck around looking into every room I could. "Hey you! Come back here!" I turned around and saw guards. I grasped my bag and ran, still looking into every room. All of a sudden, I saw a gun being held up to a man's head. Time stopped for me in that moment. Shan. I ran into the room and kicked the guard. "GET AWAY FROM HIM!!" I screamed. "Li." He began to put his arm out when a shot echoed in the room. "No. No! NO!" I watched as Shan's body fell limp onto the ground. "Shan." I seemed to say through my tears. All of a sudden, I felt arms around my stomach area as I got picked up and carried away. I started to cry even harder. Why Shan? It should have been me. He didn't deserve it. I break the rules of the Little Red Book, not him. He doesn't break the rules. He deserved to live. Cuffs started to go around my wrists as I became chained to the ground. When they left, I curled up into a ball and sobbed, not trying to become unchained. Just lying there. "Why?" I whispered in the darkness as I fell asleep.
