They gathered in the security room, one Shine had never known existed. Living with a group of spies, it was almost impossible that such a place didn't exist.
"Wow... they really did bring you to the morgue," Shine's inner voice murmured.
A chill ran down her spine as she saw her 'dead' body on the monitor. Allen stepped closer, placing his hands gently on her shoulders.
"She's not you," he said, sensing Shine's nerves, and gave her shoulders a reassuring squeeze.
Shine looked at him, questioning silently.
"Who is she?" she whispered.
"She's a Jane Doe who happened to look like you," Allen explained, frowning slightly. "She died in a car accident earlier that day. Lucky for us... but not for her." A faint smile crossed his face. Shine might have laughed if the mood weren't so tense. She simply nodded, amazed by the precision and efficiency of their operation.
"Done!" Yuna pressed enter.
The CCTV footage played, and everyone seemed impressed by her editing skills.
"We can just show him this," Dad said, pointing at the monitor. Everyone agreed, while Shine remained quiet.
"Shine dear, I'll go home now," Dad said, planting a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Take care, Dad. Say hello to Mom for me, and tell Min how much I love him, will you?" Shine replied weakly.
"I will." Dad hugged her once more, then patted Allen's shoulder before leaving, as if entrusting Shine into his care.
Once her father disappeared from sight, Shine turned to Allen.
"Allen, can you give me a ride to the airport?" she asked hesitantly.
"At this hour?" Allen questioned.
"I feel bad for leaving Yuzu like that... I think I hurt him even more this time," Shine admitted, lifting her head to look at him. "I promise I won't let him know I'm there. I just want to see him before he leaves."
"Okay. And if we give him this," Allen said, showing a USB drive in his hand, "it will clarify everything."
Hyeon and Yuna appeared, approaching Allen and Shine.
"Hyeon, I'll take Hana with me," Allen said, speaking firmly to Shine's acting father.
"This late?" Yuna asked.
"Where are you going?" Hyeon demanded.
"We're going to Pearson," Shine answered.
Hyeon and Yuna exchanged a knowing look. Shine liked that about them—even as her fake parents, their concern was genuine.
"Bring David with you," Hyeon commanded. "Allen, you must be tired too."
"David?" Shine asked silently, glancing at Allen.
"Okay," he agreed without argument.
After some final instructions, Shine and Allen headed to the airport, arriving an hour before Yuzuru's flight.
"Wear this," Allen said, holding a wig.
"No," Shine stopped him. "Yuzuru will still recognize me. I think it's safer to just wear this." She put on a surgical mask and a cap over her short ponytail.
They took a seat far enough to remain unnoticed, but close enough to see the entrance clearly.
Shine watched Yuzuru as he pulled his luggage, his mother following behind. His head turned from side to side, scanning for someone.
Allen stood, but Shine tugged on his jacket, forcing him to sit beside her.
"Why?" he asked, confused.
"I think it's not the right time to give him the USB. He still has the World Championships, and he needs to focus. Besides... he's not fully recovered from his surgery." Shine's concern for Yuzuru was clear in her eyes.
Allen looked at her and nodded.
Shine turned her gaze to Yuzuru again.
"My love, goodbye. I love you... always," she whispered in her mind, smiling.
Yuzuru's eyes suddenly caught hers. He smirked.
