How detailed would you want the animation to be?
Well the whole point of it being animated was that this series couldn’t be done well without being really expensive. But I wouldn’t want it to be that detailed. I mean, Dragonball Z styled or Code: Lyoko styled, or anything along those lines. Not really, really detailed, just detailed enough. And obviously, when he’s in some of the other worlds, I might try and see if we can get the characters animated in the style of that series. So for instance, if they were in the World of Warcraft Universe, I would try my best to get it animated in that style. That would be hard, I know; that’s why I’m saying try. But I will be wanting to, you know, trying to develop and getting everything looking in a style that’s good.
What type of musical score would you want accompanying Crossover Sagas?
Now that’s a hard one. Really, it would depend on the episode, what sort of series we’re in. But if we’re in one of the crossover worlds, I’d like to try my best to get music similar to that that was on those shows, so for instance, if Lexis was in the Lord of the Rings Universe, not going to happen, because obviously I can’t do that one, but if he was in the Lord of the Rings Universe, then it would definitely have the Lord of the Rings theme. It would have to be there, it would have to. But for the first season and fourth season, where he’s not crossing over, I’d really like to have him, sort of depending on where he is; when he’s on the Enstre Isles, sort of a sombre, very, how would I put it, Beethoven, you know, the slower music, the very classical but more sombre and not very upbeat. Very, you know, sort of, a little bit sad. Whereas when he’s in the first season, because he’s in a happy place, obviously the music for it would have to be happy. But for the final episode for the final battle, I want to try to get a remix of ‘His World’ from SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, because the beat from that just suits the animation, which I plan for it, so well. Like, I’ve been thinking over that scene so many times, that every time, that song is what plays along with it, and whenever I’ve listened to that song, the images for that episode come into my head, so I would definitely want to get a remix for it.
(Plus it’s the most awesome Sonic the Hedgehog song ever.)
It suits, really, it goes well with it. It’s not the most epic, by the way, but it suits it, it would really go well with the animation. So really, any song that goes well with the scene is what I want.
Would you consider hiring a writing staff, or would you just write the show yourself?
I would need a writing staff. Although I can come up with ideas for stories, writing a script for an episode is not my strong point, definitely not. So I would need to hire a writing staff, definitely.
If you did hire a writing staff, would you allow them to deviate a little from the characters or plot you created?
Well the plot I come up with, obviously I would come up with the idea for the plot, how they develop it is their own, but I would like to stick to what I give them, and the same with the characters. I would like them to portray the characters the way I have come up with and the way I have them. Obviously, if they come up with a script, I would look over it, because as the person overseeing the project, I have the last say. So I have to be able to say ‘Yes, this script is definitely good, I enjoy this, and I think this is perfect.’ And obviously if they don’t have it perfectly perfect, the way I would absolutely want it, but I think it s good enough, that I am happy with it, then I won’t make any changes. I’ll only make changes if I think it’s, you know, if it’s against the character. Like, if Hewitt was made too violent, that would be bad, because he’s not a violent person; he is predominantly a pacifist. If he has to defend himself, he will, but he’s predominantly a pacifist; [that] is why in the World of Warcraft Universe, he’d probably be the team’s healer, the medic, and would be just sitting in the background going ‘Heal! Holy light!’ He’d just be there, helping from the sidelines. And if they make Arugulo too peaceful, because he is a violent person, so they have to make him violent. So obviously I want the characters to be how they’re meant to be. But if they write the script well, I’ll be happy with it, just so long as they don’t do it too bad, or change the characters too much.
