Are there any events in the Freedom Trilogy that you’re excited about?
The thing that I’m most excited about is the main character’s escape from the facility that he’s locked up in, because that is going to be a really big free-running sequence. If it was made into a movie they’d have to get so much insurance, because they’re going to be running across buildings and jumping, and the final scene from that I’m definitely looking forward to, because it’s going to be like his confrontation with the captain of the guard, and just him looking at the main character and just trying to get him to coming back and the main character turning and going "See ya!" I can’t wait for that one.
And for the second one, there aren’t actually that many major scenes in the second one that I am outwardly looking forward to. The introduction of the two girls is obviously something I look forward to, but other than that, there aren’t that many major events in the second one. The second one is more plot progression than anything.
But the third one, the storming of the castle is what I’m most looking forward to, because I am going to have to do a lot of research on that one, to make sure that I do it justice, because it’s going to be a storming of a gigantic castle with walls that are higher than this building. Well higher, actually. So, it’s going to be a big thing, really big; I actually can’t wait to write that.
(And there’s also the final confrontation.)
Oh yeah, that’s going to be fun. Actually, up until that point, the Dictator is never going to be mentioned by name, it’s never actually going to be described as male or female. Nobody knows what the person looks like actually, whether they’re male or female or anything, OK, because they always sends out a proxy, someone else in their place, and it’s always a different person. So nobody knows what their leader actually looks like, but when the person finally shows up, I can’t wait for the description of what they actually looks like and how I’m going to describe that.
When are you planning on writing the Freedom Trilogy?
The Freedom Trilogy is probably at the bottom of the line for writing. It is the novel that’s going to take the most research to get done, because if I want it to be accurate, and for it to be good and to do justice to it, I would have to do a lot of research for it. But I think I will manage somehow, but I think though it will be at the bottom of the list. It will take probably the longest to write.
How long would you want the Freedom Trilogy to be? (Specify the number of pages and chapters.)
Um, I would like to have all three novels to be the same size. I don’t want them to be bigger than each other; I want them to be around the same size. Not exactly the same size, but around the same. So I’d be going for between, it would probably be very short, but 300 to 400 pages for each, keep it short. I don’t put chapter numbers on it, I never do, but I would like to have it at least 300 pages, to 400 or 500 depending on how much I can put into it. But I want to have each one around the same size, because their covers of them, I want them to be plain, because it’s not going to be like a kid’s going to look at it and go "Ooh, I want that book!" because it’s meant to be more for grown-ups. So the cover for it, I want to be very plain, but first one is going to have the symbol for the Dictator, the second one’s going to have the symbol for the heroes, and then the last one I’m planning on having the top half of the cover is going to have the symbol for the heroes, and the bottom half will have the symbol for the villains, just half of it, and the two meeting in the middle. That was the plan anyways, I don’t know if the promotional people would want that though. I want to have them the same size, so that when they’re put side by side on a shelf, it’ll look all neat. Just, a trilogy should have the same size of books, so when they’re put side by side or in those boxes, they look right.
