What is My Adventures about?
My Adventures is based around a character that’s based on me, obviously from the fact that it’s called My Adventures. That’s not the official title, by the way, I think I’m coming up close to having a proper name for him, but it is about him, it is about a character based on myself, that gets invited to a special academy, where he discovers that magic and monsters are real, and he spends his time in the academy learning more about magic, and eventually discovering that he has some powers himself, and learning how to control it. I know this might sound a lot like Harry Potter, but it’s not. Harry Potter only has wizards in the academy; this has everything from orcs, to giants, to werewolves, to vampires, everything.
(Ghosts?)
Not so much. There aren’t that many ghosts actually. Most of the ghosts in this universe, they say, "I’m already dead. Why would I want to go to school? I’m already dead! I’ve already wasted my life in school; I’m not going to waste my death! Go away!" But there are a few who do go by choice. They aren’t made. No ghost is made, whereas, everyone else is. Everyone else pretty much has to go, because they have to learn how to use their powers properly, otherwise, how should I put this nicely? They’ll blow up the world. That is the easiest way to put it. But this is mainly about the main character, his adventure, and discovering his own destiny to save the world from destruction at the hands of pretty much a person who is pretty much trying to end everything in any way possible.
What are your favourite characters in My Adventures?
Well I can’t say the main character, because that would be too narcissistic, because he’s based on me.
But I do love his two friends in it. I do love them, because it’s fun to write about them, to think about them even, because having that cute, charming girl who’s so sweet and innocent, and then you find out she’s a vampire. Like, she’s going to be so sweet and innocent, and she’s going to be so charming, everyone’s going to be like "She’s such a nice girl." And then they find out she’s a vampire, and they are like "You are the complete opposite of what I expected. You don’t even go around drinking blood." "Oh no, I drink blood. You just think I’m drinking ketchup."
Yeah, she’s one of those people, she’s a posh vampire. That’s another thing, because she’s posh, she is kind of one of those stereotypical posh vampires who’s all like "I’m so brilliant!" Well, she’s not like that, she’s not narcissistic, she’s sweet. Her father kind of doesn’t like the way she’s so sweet and innocent, because he’s the leader of their clan. So she is the opposite of what you’d expect. And she is though, bloody posh, which I’m going to enjoy writing her posh lines. Especially that one, that’s a good line I just came up with right there.
And I like the wizard, because I intend on making him funny. He’s going to be smart, and at the same time funny. He’s going to be one of those sarcastic people, you know, the smart people who are really sarcastic. If you went up to him, he’ll be going "So...you’re a vampire? You got a bit of a something there. No, other side. Yeah, I think you might need to stop smearing ketchup on your face." That’s a very bad one, I know, but still, he’s going to be really sarcastic. Although he is a wizard, he doesn’t fully believe in every single magical creature. He often questions the existence of some of them. If he sees them right in front of his face, he won’t deny it. But he questions everything. If something doesn’t seem right, he will question it, and he’s going to be very smart. He’ll often say something beyond the grasp of everyone there, and then when they ask him about it, he’ll have to explain it in dumb speech, and he’ll just go "Alright, for you not-intelligent people, this is what this means." But I will be having him sarcastic, and he will be a lot funnier in the actual novel, because I’m improvising right now, but he will be actually lot funnier in the actual novel. He’ll lighten the mood, really, even though it’s going to be a light-hearted novel, it won’t be all serious like Freedom Trilogy; it’ll be really light-hearted.
What is the world like in the My Adventures?
Well, obviously it is set on Earth, so it is very similar to our Earth, but there are several differences. For one thing, there is obviously the magical community, which is hidden behind the eyes of most mortals, or None-Magics as they’re referred to, because most Magics are actually mortal themselves. But most of the community remains hidden due to a spell cast by the 21 most powerful magical beings of an era to protect the community from witch hunts and such. And pretty much the novel does concentrate really on the magical community, you don’t really see that much of the None-Magical community, and when you do, it’s often for very, very brief instances. The actual main centre of the novel though will be the academy, which is going to be a castle on an island, and no, Harry Potter is not on an island, it is actually on the mainland, so ha. But yeah, it will be on an island, and there will be a lot of stuff there that will allow me to make a lot more fun, but in the world, None-Magics don’t really believe in magic, so they’re safe right now, but Magics are really suspicious of None-Magics of the whole history between them. But I do hope...to emphasize the fact that Magics and None-Magics must work together. You know, that’ll be something that’ll be in there somewhere.
The whole story revolves around the main characters, the villain, and their struggle. But the universe of my novel is overseen by a group of extremely powerful beings. They are not gods, nor do they regard themselves as such, in fact they take offense to being referred to as gods. They are not worshipped, in fact most people don’t even know they exist, they just are there; they sit in the background really, and oversee things. They don’t really do much other than that, they oversee things. That’s why it’s called a council, because that’s what most councils do, they oversee the running of things, make sure everything goes smoothly. They don’t really have to interfere in affairs that much, although some members of the council do interfere a lot, like Fate for instance, interferes a lot. The Nexus Council, being extremely powerful beings, they can choose what form they take, with Fate taking the form of three beings rather than one, but that’s because they choose that form, they like it. And all the councils have various different roles, but for the most part they’re sitting in the background. They don’t actually do much.
(So how does it relate to the Academy?)
A member of the Nexus Council is actually a teacher at the Academy, and they are insuring that pretty much, people fulfil their destinies, people do what they’re meant to do, and some members of the council will have huge roles in the novel. The whole council will be seen at one point, but only a few of them will have really, really big roles. Like Death, the Grim Reaper, will have a major role. He will constantly show up, whenever somebody’s about to die, he’ll usually show up and just hover there, looking at people, making sure if they do die, he can deal with them. But he is one of the Nexus Council that states, "The Nexus Council is a group of beings that exist in a place that is outside of time and space. When you enter there, we have already met you. Although you are only just arriving, we have actually already met you, because you have already been there. Although you are just coming here, you have been here for ages." Yeah, if you’re ever talking about the Nexus itself, you get loads of confusing paradoxes, because it is a place outside of time and space. The laws of time and space do not exist there. Everything that happens there happens instantly, but also over countless millennia. The world is constantly growing, but at the same time, it remains the same size. Gravity is there, you’re stuck to the ground, but the same time you’re floating in space. There is no logic to that world. But the Nexus Council themselves, some of the members do have a large role.
