Chapter 3: "Attempted"

I bolted out of the front doors, and almost ran in front of a car, if Anjelina wasn't there to catch me. She is on the track team at our school so I guess she is a pretty fast runner. I am glad she was there or that truck would have smashed me.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!" she yells at me.

"I have to" I breathe, I'm out of breath. "get home my mom will notice I am gone soon!"

"Oh yeah! Honestly, I thought that was another suicide attempt Chloe!" Katie screams at me, when she catches up." You scared the shit out of me!!!"

"ANOTHER?!" Anjelina yells, shocked.

I didn't have time to explain. I had to get home. I took off running again almost being hit by another car. I find my car, unlock it, jump in, and start it up. Just before I can back out, Anjelina and Katie run behind my car. They both get in Katie's car as I am backing out and speeding away.

On the way home I am going about 15 mph over the speed limit of 60. I finally get to my house from the back way and park my car. I jump out and go over to the live wall that goes up the side of our house right next to my window. I begin climbing as I hear another car pull in the back way to my house. At the same exact moment I hear my other best friends, Bailey and Mackenzie, come out of my neighbors house, which is Bailey's house so Mackenzie must be staying the night. They are confused so I gesture to Katie and Anjie, which is who I am guessing pulled up after me, fro them to ask them what is going on. I continue climbing and I get into my room. I don't worry about putting my screen back on just yet and I close my window. I haven't even looked up for the time or anything. I quickly jump in bed and pull up my covers when I finally look up to see my mother standing in the doorway. I don't know how long she has been standing there, but hopefully not too long.

"What's the rush for?" she asks. I still don't know how long she has been there.

"I don't know.... I'm just tired so I was getting to bed early." I finally look at the clock and I see that it is 9:02. Well I guess that's not too late. I get out of school at 3:30, then I work until 6, I got home at 6:45, then I snuck out and got back at, I'm guessing about, 8:55.

"Well you are still in your work clothes and I was going to tell you that your friends are here. I'm guessing they are spending the night to work on homework?" she asks innocently. Phew. That's a relief. She didn't find out I was gone.

"Oh..um....yeah we have a lot of homework to do I forgot about it." I stutter.

"Okay well don't stay up too late." She says then leaves.

A few minutes later Katie, Anjie, Bailey, AND Mackenzie all walk up. I was just expecting Katie and Anjie, but I mean this is cool too. Obviously, Katie didn't tell Bailey or Mackenzie what's was going on by the expressions on their faces.

"Wait so what the hell is going on?" Bailey finally asks to break the silence.

So I explain everything that is going on and blah blah blah. Bailey doesn't seem very shocked other than the fact that I almost got hit by a car twice. Mackenzie, though, she was shocked that I almost got caught again sneaking out. I also told them about my mom yelling at me for no reason again every night. Bailey, obviously not trusting that I can stay clean, proceeds to check my arms for cuts. Yes, she found some, but they weren't new. She looked up at me disappointed. She hates that I do that, but not more than Katie does, she hates it more than any of us. I saw her expression change at the sight of them.

"I'm sorry" I say and I collapse on my bed crying. At once they all come over to me and surround me in a group hug. I can tell they try so hard not to cry as I am sobbing.

"I don't want to be here any more. I want to leave and move as far away from my mom as possible." i sob.

"I know. It's okay you don't have much longer here. just remember you can always just walk next door to my house whenever you need to and stay as long as you want." Bailey says to me as she hugs me and I hug her back.

"Same." All the other girls say at the same time and we all bust out laughing. I don't even know what's so funny about it,  but it feels good to laugh.

We end up falling asleep on top of each other that night still in the clothes we wore to school and work that day. Katie is pretty much spooning me. Anjie is basically laying on Katie as a pillow. Bailey is laying directly on top of me. Mackenzie is laying across all of us. All five of us are on one full sized bed.

We also have school tomorrow.... don't forget.
