*~*~* Amie's POV *~*~*

I wake up to be met with a darkness that seems to swallow me whole. My hands fly to my eyes to find that they are indeed open. I hear a door open and sit up quickly, wondering who's there.

"It's only me, babe," someone with an Irish accent says.

"And who are you...?" I ask cautiously.

The person drops something, glass I'm guessing by the way it sounded.

"I-I'm Niall," the unknown person stutters out.

That name sounds familiar, like I know him, but any memory of him is stuck in the back of my brain.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I know you," I tell him truthfully.

"What? This is a sick joke Amie, of course you know me." He laughs nervously.

"I'm not joking. I don't know you," I answer.

"What?" His voice is very quiet, airy and raspy, as if he's holding back tears.

"I don't know you," I whisper again, quieter this time.

I hear shoes thumping against the ground and a door slam before there is nothing but silence.

What in the world just happened?

*~*~* Niall's POV *~*~*

What in the world just happened?

That's all I can think of as I run through the halls, searching for that stout, large nosed man. When I finally see him through the crowd of people in scrubs and lab coats I grab his arm and drag him towards Amie's room.

"What's going on?" he asks.

"She doesn't remember me."

"What?" he questions again.

"She doesn't remember me!" I shout, causing a few heads to turn our way. I all but ignore them as I continue to pull Dr. Von Schniefell through this mob.

He doesn't say anything else but tugs his arm from my grip before jogging ahead of me. I keep on his heels, entering the room seconds after him.

We both step around the glass on the floor. As soon as she said she didn't know who I was I dropped the vase of flowers I had gotten for her earlier. It was the first time I'd left this hospital in weeks. I figured I would get some air since I knew she was fine and awake. I thought she was fine, recovering normally. The world just loves to prove me wrong.

"Hello? Who's there?" Amie asks, completely clueless.

"I'm Dr. Von Schniefell, your doctor. I understand that you seem to have forgotten a few things."

"Yes. Someone came in here earlier, I think he said his name was Niall... He said he knew me, but I have no idea who he is."

The doctor throws me a wary look as my heart seems to crumble again. I thought we were past this; I thought she remembered me.

*~*~* Amie's POV *~*~*

The doctor doesn't answer back right away but someone on the other side of the room sniffles, startling me. Then it hits me.

"He's here, isn't he?"

"Yes," the doctor answers.

"Oh," is all I can think to say.

"Come one baby, how do you not remember me? We were talking not even 5 hours ago. You knew me then," the Irish accent addresses me.

"I did?" I question, desperately trying to remember any detail of this man. My eyes squint shut during my attempt and I see a pair of eyes unlike anything I've ever seen.
