*~*~* Amie's POV *~*~*
Louis pulls up and texts Eleanor to let us know he's here.
"Come on!" she yells, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the door. We travel down the winding pathway, me out of breath by the time we get all the way down there.
"You okay?" Louis shouts from in the car, rolling down the window to talk to me.
"Yeah," I pant. "I'm fine." I take big gulps of air, filling my lungs with the cold oxygen. I need to exercise more.
"That's what you get for not moving for a week and a half," Eleanor jokes, but I can hear the bark in her bite.
"Yeah," I whisper more to myself than her while we get into the car. Eleanor sits in the front with Louis and they whisper loving greetings to each other. When I hear the smack of their lips together, I wipe under my eyes to assess if tears have started falling yet.
Very surprisingly, they haven't.
Louis seems to notice how uncomfortable I am, because a few seconds later he mutters, "Hm, let's get going then."
I mentally thank him. I'm not sure I can take much more of them being couple-y. This is going to be a long night.
*~*~*
Louis ends up driving us to some club at the end of town, deciding that it was best for our outfit choices. I feel a bit dressed up, but I don't mind. I honestly don't care. If I get weird stares I won't be able to see them anyway.
And I think I'm too far gone to worry about something as simple as people looking at me funny.
We step out of the car and the cool night air bites at my skin, making me shiver. I should've brought a coat. Louis offers Eleanor his coat, but she politely declines, saying that it'll be hot in the club. The small act of chivalry sends another dagger into my chest.
I don't think I can do this.
Eleanor surprises me by linking her arm through mine and leading me up to the building that's blaring with music. The rumbling bass makes my already weak knees shake from the intensity of the sound. We're not even in the club yet and I can barely stand.
We walk up to the front, but are stopped by a bouncer. I run into his back as he wishes another couple ahead of us a fun night. He seems very big. And strong.
He huffs before turning around. "Can I help you?"
My words leave me at the sound of his gruff voice.
"Yes, actually," El speaks up next to me. "We'd like to go and dance and get our minds off of things."
"And why should I let you in?" he asks, his fierce voice making me cower back behind Eleanor. I feel her step forward, no doubt to tell him off, when Louis steps in.
"Because they're with me." I breathe a sigh of relief when I feel his arm wrap around Eleanor. I unlink our arms and take a few steps back, letting him have his girlfriend. She pouts, but I ignore her, staring off into space. She deserves to be happy. Tonight I'll force her to spend time with Louis. He's been deprived of his girlfriend for too long over this small break they're getting.
The bouncer stutters out an apology before letting us through. I try my best to walk in a straight line, but someone soon harshly pulls me to the side.
"Don't be running into walls now," Louis jokes from next to me. I thank him with a small voice and tell him to sit me down somewhere. He decides that I need to sit at the actual bar, not at any of the seats that I know aren't taken around the room.
He snaps at someone and waits a second before saying, "This young lady here is allowed to have as many drinks as she wishes. They're all on me."
I gape up at him. "You don't have to do that."
"I didn't say you had to have a drink," he shoots back, ensnaring me by pretty much implying that he knows that I'm going to drink. "You do what you want tonight. There are no chains weighing you down. Nothing heavy on your shoulders. You forget about all of that tonight and let go, okay? Have fun."
I thank him quietly, my voice cracking in the middle.
"You're very welcome," he says, but lightens the mood a bit before he leaves. "Try not to drive my bill too high, huh?"
"No promises," I say. I don't believe in promises anymore.
"Well," he murmurs. "Just remember what I said. Have fun." And with that he presses a feather light kiss to my forehead and walks away, leaving me alone with all of the drinks I could possibly imagine.
*~*~* Niall's POV *~*~*
Zayn invited me along to some bar at the end of town to get a few drinks. The rest of the boys are supposed to be here, too. I pass Louis' car and am glad that someone's here already. I'm going to need someone to keep me under control or I'll end up drinking way too much. Then I'll probably say things that would result in the end being very, very bad for all of us. Me especially.
I nod at the bouncer, who lets me in without a second glance. The bass rocks the floor beneath me and I lean onto the wall next to me. The lack of food I've had isn't doing me any good.
Different colored lights flash around the room, illuminating people's faces, but only for a few seconds before the light makes another round around the room. The music is too loud for my taste and I feel a headache starting at the base of my skull; another result of my low food quantities.
I'm running on empty here.
I look around the room, searching for the other lads, when Louis' eyes meet mine. His widen in shock and... fear? Why is he so surprised I'm here?
It's only when I see the gorgeous girl sitting at the bar downing a drink that I realize why he's so surprised.
Amie's here.
