~Two Weeks Later~
"Time to say goodbye," I thought as we pulled up to my parent's house. It felt so good to finally be home. After I got out of the car I turned to the brothers and smiled. "Thanks for looking out for me," I said. "You're welcome Mel, it is ok if we call you that right?" asked Griffen. "Yeah it's fine," I smiled. "Well if you need us again call this number ok," said Griffen returning the smile. "So where are you two headed next?" I asked. I've learned a lot during the two weeks that I was with the brothers, like they don't normally stay in town for too long to avoid people from asking too many questions, or from getting arrested. "We're not sure yet Mel," Dean said, "We haven't gotten a call from anyone and we don't have any cases either, but we're definitely gonna get something to eat; do you know any good places around here, I'm starving." I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Dean you're always hungry",sighed Griffen. "Well, I'm gonna miss you two", I sighed. "Us too," Griffen said.
"Goodbye," I waved as they drove off. I was truthfully going to miss them, even if they did basically kidnap me. I still wondered why I didn't run, maybe it's because they didn't look like the type of people who would do that, but they are different I'll give them that. I giggled. Now I can get back to my normal life, well, almost I guess. I turned to the house and walked up to the door and unlocked it. "Mom, Dad, I'm home." I called as I walked in. That's when I heard footsteps running towards me and before I knew it my family had in a warm group hug. I heard my mom in tears telling me she loved me and my father trying to keep it together and my little sister in her footy pjs and her pretty brown hair in pig tales with a big smile on her face. "I knew you'd come back," she whispered to me. When they all finally let me go I could see my mother's face it was all red her eyes were all puffy like my fathers and her mascara left black streaks on her face, they both were a mess all excepted my little sister Lucy. "Where have you been Melody?" my mom asked later that afternoon, and of course I had to lie.
And that night I tucked my little sister into bed. "Mel, I knew you'd keep your promise, I knew it." she said. "A promise is a promise Lucy, and I promised that no matter what would happen I'd always find my way back to my little sister," I said. She smiled. "And Lucy, I promise that I'll always be here to protect you." I said with a smile, but she was already fast asleep, so sweet and innocent, not a care in the world. I wish I could stay there forever but I needed my sleep.
The next morning when I looked in the mirror I almost had a heart attack my bed head was so bad. After I got dressed I got my cereal-in a-cup and headed out the door to go to work. The hours crept by slowly and throughout the whole day I had to explain why I wasn't there for two weeks and I'm pretty sure I was inches away from being fired, oh well. "Finally four o'clock, time to go home," I thought to myself. I was looking forward to dinner, mom was gonna make pie.
As I pulled up to my house all the lights were off. "Weird," I thought, they're not normally off. I got out of my truck and approached the front door. The door was unlocked, ok there is something definitely wrong here. I pushed the door open with caution and looked inside, it was dark and empty. I stepped thought the door, that's when I heard a terrified scream from up stairs. "Lucy," I thought as I darted up the stairs. As I turned into Lucy's pitch black bedroom I saw the window was opened and a shadowed figure bent over a smaller body. That's when my world came crashing down. That smaller body was Lucy.
"Lucy, no!" I screamed. The figure got up and flashed a deadly smile then turned and jumped out the window. He was gone and I was at my sister's side. "No, Lucy please stay with me." I cried but I already knew by her lifeless eyes that she was gone, I was too late. "I'm so sorry Lucy I promised I'd keep you safe and I failed, I failed you I'm so sorry," I cried. My mom came home soon after and she called 911 of course, and even after they came I was still cradling my dead sister as if that was going to bring her back. Her body was frozen against my warm skin. My mom had to pry me from her as the paramedics took her away. "No that's my sister please don't take her away, please! Lucy, I'm sorry!" I screamed as the hot salty tears flooded down my cheeks, I collapsed on the floor of my room. I didn't care if I was covered in my sisters blood, I didn't care that I was a mess in general, I didn't, I just didn't, I didn't want to, I didn't have to.
So I didn't.There was only one thing I could do, the only thing worth doing at this point. As I reached for my phone and dialed the number, my hands were shaking my whole body was trembling. I thought since I couldn't save my sister's life then I'll just save other lives. Someone picked up. "This is Dean" "Dean this is Mel I need you to come pick me up, please, I want to be a hunter."
