"Wait Mel what happened, why do you need us, are you ok?" Dean asked in a concerned tone. "Dean, listen, I can't really explain right now and nor do I want to so can you please come over I just need you two," I said as I felt a big lump in my throat. "..ok Mel we'll be there in five, ok just hang in there." Dean said softly. I hung up. I opened my closet and got out my black duffel bag. I took a hand full of t-shirts some flannel a few sweaters my favorite jean jacket and a bunch jeans and other things. "Almost done," I thought, the last thing I grabbed the last picture our whole family took together. "Done," I said to myself. I took one last look around my old room, so many good memories, it was too much, too much to bare. I don't want my parents to know that I'm leaving it would get to messy they're going through their daughter's death. They don't need to worry about me and I don't want to be a burden for them. And they'd be safer without me, more tears flowed down my cheeks. I need to leave but how do I get out. I look around, my window, duh. My room is the only room on the floor level thank god. As I jumped out my window I saw the boy's car pulling up on are neighbor's driveway because all the police cars surrounding my house.
As I ran over to the car the lump in my throat came back and my eyes stared tearing up, I guess because I knew they had questions, questions that I wasn't ready to answer, not yet. I threw my bag in before getting in myself. I didn't say a word to either of them. They both were looking at me from the front seats. Dean was in the driver's seat and Griffen was riding shotgun. "Melody what are you doing, what's going on, why are there police cars parked in front of your house?" Griffen asked. "What does it look like, I'm joining you two," I said plainly trying to avoid eye contacted with them both. "But why you have a family, and a home, you don't want this life Mel." Dean said. "You don't know what I want Dean," I snapped. "No I don't, but I wouldn't if I were you," he said calmly. "But Mel, why are the cops at your house and why do you all of a sudden wanna come with us and," I cut Griffen off. "Stop, just stop, please," I cried and the tears began to stream down my face. I could see Dean's crystal blue eyes widen as his solem expression changed to worry. "Mel you're crying what's-" I cut Griffen off again.
"She's dead," I cried. "Who?" they both said in unison. "My little sister, something killed her. I couldn't help her, I promised," I said sobbing as the two tried to comfort me which was sweet but it didn't really help. I started to calm down after a few minutes. "Listen Melody, are you sure that you want to stay with us because you'll never be able to get a normal life ever," Dean said looking me strait in the eyes. I nodded, "Yeah it's not like I have anything left for me here," I said softly my eyes still filled with tears. "Ok then." Dean said quietly. He started the car and pulled out of the driveway and as we drove away from my old house I don't know if it was sadness and grief or it was relief but something was different. But I do know one thing for certain, I'm never coming back here ever.
We stayed silent the whole drive as I looked out the window, but I kept catching Dean looking back at me though the rear view mirror.
A few hours laters we pulled up to, ugh, another crappy motel. We all got are stuff out of the car and Dean went to check us in. A few minutes later he came out jingling our room key, "Room 7," he said. We found room 7 and had a little trouble with the door, but we got it opened. The room was an off white color and ugly brown carpet it had two full size beds a couch, tv, and a small kitchen in the back next to a bath room. "Well we all should get some shut eye it's been a long day," Dean said. "Hey Dean rock paper scissors for the bed," Griffen yelled. "Aren't you to a little old for-"I turn towards them, "You've gotta be kidding me," I said rolling my eyes at how ridiculous they looked. They were jumping up and down giggling like little school girls. "One, Two, Three rock paper scissors..shoot", they said in unison. "Ha paper beats rock!" Griffen mocked. Dean glared,"Fine", he huffed.
I went to the bathroom to change into my pj's it was just a t-shirt and sweat pants, then I look in the mirror. "Ugh I look horrible," I said out loud. After I washed my face and brushed my hair I got into bed and started to drifted off to sleep. There was a man's soft voice that whispered in my ear, "Good night Melody, sleep well" chills crept up my spine. It sounded creepy but familiar. Everything went black, then I was back, back at the top of the staircase. Then I heard it the blood curtailing scream. "Lucy, no!" I scream as a ran to her room. There it was laying over her lifeless body. The thing stood up and I could faintly see it's face, as the moon light hit its face I saw a mouth full of shark like fangs and crimson red blood dripping down its face. It's smirked at me and started to mumble loud enough for me to hear, but I didn't understand. I was shaking with fear and rage, that's when he started to get closer and closer, I tried to run I tried to get away, but I couldn't, I couldn't move. "Stay away from me," I screamed "Stay away," I screamed over and over, now he was almost inches apart from me. I could see the blood the teeth and..... "No, please. No," I whimpered. Then I woke up, I jolted upright covered in sweat and breathing heavily, I looked around I was in the dark. My heart was racing. "It was just a dream," I said trying to calm down as I couldn't help the tears that started to fall. "I'm sorry Lucy, I'm so sorry," I whispered as I drifted back to sleep.
